BIG SMITH CONCERT ANNOUNCEMENT – FINAL SHOW OF 2018!!

Big Smith is thrilled to announce that for the 3rd year in a row, we will perform NEW YEAR’S EVE, December 31st, 2018 at the beautiful and historic GILLIOZ THEATRE in downtown Springfield, Missouri! There will be no opening act this year, which means all Big Smith, all night, playing all your favorites ‘til midnight and on into the first moments of 2019!

TICKETS GO ON SALE this Friday, October 12 at 10:00 a.m. You can buy them at the Gillioz box office, 325 Park Central East;
by calling the box office, (417) 863-9491;
or online at http://gillioztheatre.com/event/Big-Smith-NYE-2018.

Take a look at this year’s VIP ticket package – this from the Gillioz website:

“If you want to really celebrate the New Year in style, grab up the limited VIP experience that includes dinner featuring Springfield's award-winning Crosstown Barbeque - LIVE MUSIC with Dallas Jones, a special Moonshine Bar and a limited edition commemorative poster from local artist Patrick McWhirt complete with all the Big Smith autographs! The Gallery hosts this special hayloft experience prior to Big Smith taking the stage to get you through the midnight hour!”

It was December 31st of 2016 that Big Smith reunited on the Gillioz stage after some 4 & ½ years of wandering in the hillbilly wilderness -- a dark, misty terrain littered with broken banjo strings, shattered brown jugs marked ###, and forlorn-looking washtub basses abandoned next to the jawbones of once-vigorous and stubborn Missouri mules, now disembodied and bleached white as a reminder of a sun that once shone through the hand-carved half-moon portals of what were once proud, oft-visited outhouses.

What were we talking about?

Oh yeah, New Year’s 2016!

At the time, the show was imagined as a one-off event, but the love and appreciation that was sent to the stage by our hometown people was beyond overwhelming and affirming for all the cousins, so much so that we agreed to repeat the event the following year. These concerts at the Gillioz were the first two concerts Big Smith had played since getting back together. By the time we take the stage this coming New Year’s Eve, it will be with four more shows under our belts for the year, with still more in the works for 2019, all because of the encouragement from a hometown crowd, assembled at the Gillioz to hear some hillbilly music on New Year’s Eve. Thank you!

These annual celebrations at the Gillioz are truly meaningful for the guys, as we get to transition to new beginnings with our hometown fans, in our hometown – with people and a city that have been so good to Big Smith since we first started playing downtown on South in 1996. Come ring in the new year with your favorite band made up of six first cousins! Big Smith wants to make mirth and merriment with you, again!
