365 Days of Gough Food I will take a photograph of my dinner each day for one year and post it to this page. My brother was the first to selected a meal.

I will share recipes, and on occasion ask for suggestions for what I eat on a particular day. I have set myself a challenge, to photograph and publish, on Facebook, my dinner each day for a whole year. I have only just started but already it has be a very different experience than I had imagined. Actually sharing something as intimate as the food you eat, although not in the literal sense, has bee

n quite strange. In addition, in an attempt to involve my audience in a more direct way, I have offered them the opportunity to suggest meals or ingredients for some of my meals. One from our childhood, Liver and Bacon which I agreed to have on day 25

Day 365 of 365 : Sushi with Misoyaki Chicken and Udon Noodles
..0...

Well that's it for this page....time to begin again with Another Year of Gough Food. By the way Sushi and Sashimi would be my condemned man's last meal.

29/05/2014

Day 364 of 365 : Midweek Spag-Boll from Ina Garten
..1...

Just want to point out that it was me that made it not Ina. I just used her recipe. Just so you're all aware. That is all.

28/05/2014

Day 363 of 365 : Black Truffle and Mushroom Risotto
..2...

If I say so myself that was jolly lovely...

27/05/2014

25/05/2014

Day 360 of 365 : Steak and salad - and a nice Malbec

Well five days to go. It's got to be 'Another Year of Gough Food'

24/05/2014

Day 359 of 365 : Vietnamese beef curry, chana dal and Bombay potatoes. Rice, breads and onion bhaji

Though it's spicy and hot and I worry
That, after I eat it, I'll hurry
Away to the loo
As it passes on through
Into poo, still I do favor curry

23/05/2014

Day 358 of 365 : Fat Friday Fish and Chips

I caught a big crab on my line,
they said: "Hold it up," I said: "Fine"
But then I yelled "Ow!"
And look at me now:
if you count my fingers – there’s nine!

22/05/2014

Day 357 of 365 : Salmon persillade and roast tomato

I know a man called Jim,
I throw tomatoes at him,
Tomatoes are soft and don’t hurt the skin,
But these fu***rs do ‘cos they’re still in the tin!!

21/05/2014

Day 356 of 365 : Only Seven Calories

A little known fact is that all forms of cake also only contain seven calories.

20/05/2014

Day 355 of 365 : Shepherd's Pie

An Argentine Gaucho named Bruno
Said s*x is one thing I do know
Women are fine
And sheep are divine
But llamas are numero uno

19/05/2014

Day 354 of 365 : Seafood with wild garlic tagliatelle

A funky young shark known as Shaun,
Was good mates with young peter the prawn,
Though they made an odd pair,
One has to be fair,
And say both taste good served with sweetcorn

18/05/2014

Day 353 of 365 : Carvery at the pub
..cold veg and tough meat. Nice pint of Asahi Super Dry though.

17/05/2014

Day 352 of 365 : Quiche

Unlike Bruce Feirstein I think real men do eat quiche (obviously)

16/05/2014

Day 351 of 365 : Roast

It's like a Sunday Roast except it's on a Friday. Why didn't I do gravy and mint sauce - because by then I was practically knee deep in empty beer tins...

15/05/2014

Day 350 of 365 : Gammon and chips

I discovered today that I have run out of peas. That is all.

14/05/2014

Day 349 of 365 : Chicken and Chips

I can't think of anything funny, profound, or even mildly amusing to say about this dinner. I do however intend to drink as many of the beers featured in this photograph as I can get my hands on this evening :)

13/05/2014

Day 348 of 365 : Roast chicken, new potatoes and peas

A chicken that isn't quite plump
Will often be ready to jump
But one that’s well fed
Will not be misled –
It clucks but just sits on its rump.

12/05/2014

Day 347 of 365 : Pork Belly

A source close to the palace revealed that they were "Pleased to see the return of peas. Front and centre, bold, proud and green!"

11/05/2014

Day 346 of 365 : Fish and Chips

I did make a stew but it tasted funny so I threw it all away and ordered fish and chips :)

10/05/2014

Day 345 of 365 : Giro d’Italia (congratulations to Kittel)

Bruschetta al Pomodoro with Pane Pugliese, Olives and Anchovies, Capers, Figs and Pecorino Romano. But then upon reflection it should have been Crubeens, Colcannon and a pint of Guinness.

09/05/2014

Day 344 of 365 : Tuna, sugar snap peas and new potatoes.

On January 5th 2013 sushi chain owner Kiyoshi Kimura paid $1.7m for a 222kg bluefin tuna at Tokyo’s Tsukiji fish market, that is a whopping $7,600 per kg. I can only hope that Mrs Gough paid less for mine this evening!

08/05/2014

Day 343 of 365 : Salmon and Cucumber Sandwich
..solid food at last!

07/05/2014

Day 342 of 365 : Adam's Ale

Today I have not been at all well. I can now keep water down though :)

06/05/2014

Day 341 of 365 : In the Bin

Long time since I binned one but this really did deserve it :)

05/05/2014

Day 340 of 365 : Beans, pasta and chicken

Beans, beans, the musical fruit
The more you eat, the more you toot
The more you toot, the better you feel
So we have beans at every meal!

04/05/2014

Day 339 of 365 : Eight hour beef in brown ale with mustard mash

Boiled beef and carrots, Boiled beef and carrots
That's the stuff for your darby kell
Makes you fat and it keeps you well
Don't live like vegetarians, on the stuff they give to parrots
From morn till night, blow out your kite
On boiled beef and carrots.

03/05/2014

Day 338 of 365 : Chicken Curry and Rice

Would probably have been nicer if I was hungry....

02/05/2014

Day 337 of 35 : Fish and chips

Today was Fat Friday at school - YAY!!

01/05/2014

Day 336 of 365 : Chicken and Stuff (not nice stuff either)

A funny thing happened, I store each days picture in a 'month' sub-directory on my PC. Today I saved this picture in the May directory only to find the directory was not empty; it had pictures from May 2013. That really brought it home to me that I have nearly come full circle and that this challenge will soon end :(

30/04/2014

Day 335 of 365 : Pesto and Mozzarella Risotto

“How can you govern a country which has 246 varieties of cheese?” ― Charles de Gaulle

29/04/2014

Day 334 of 365 : Peas!

I eat my peas with honey;
I've done it all my life.
It makes the peas taste funny,
But it keeps them on the knife.

28/04/2014

Day 333 of 365 : Steak with my favourite pasta and three bean salads

“Shall I tell you our specials today?”
Asks the waiter, who knows what I’ll say:
“My regular, please.
Just a burger — no cheese.”
My order’s become a cliché.

27/04/2014

Day 332 of 365 : Salmon

My fishing club went to the weir,
we took a huge truckload of gear,
four rods that were new,
a sandwich or two,
and three hundred cases of beer!

26/04/2014

Day 331 of 365 : Cottage Pie
..or is it Shepherd's Pie?
