Elizabeth Ann “Betty" Conner, age 75, of Nampa, Idaho passed away peacefully at 8:20 P.M. on November 28, 2023, at Heron Village Assisted Living. Betty was born on April 5th, 1948, in Twin Falls, Idaho, at Twin Falls County Hospital. She was legally adopted by Emerson Alexander “E.A.” & Maude Tolman at the young age of 2 years old. She was a resident of Twin Falls most of her young adult life. Betty was a proud graduate of Twin Falls High School. She continued her education at Draughn’s Business College in Dallas, Texas. After graduation, Betty was employed by her father as a bookkeeper for many years at Tolman Livestock and Transportation. Later in her life she became involved in the casino gaming industry, and moved to Wendover, Nevada with Roy.
Betty was preceded in death by both of her parents E.A and Maude, her late husband Roy Dee Conner, sons Jeff Conner and Elwyn “Slugger” Slagowski, daughter Annette Slagowski, grandsons Michael Jay Connell Jr. and Devin Hawthorne, and granddaughter Mackenzie Jo Dyer. She is survived by her sister Mary and John Stewart of Caldwell, Idaho. 6 children: Dion and Trina Connell of Nampa, Idaho; Kellye and Dwight Finch of Hermiston, Oregon; Brenda and Tom Ambrose of Boardman, Oregon; Mike and Toni Connell of Boardman, Oregon; Barry and Shelley Conner of Filer, Idaho; Dee and Traci Conner of Oasis, Nevada: 20 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren.
Our mom loved to camp, rockhound and just spend quality time with her family. Our fondest memories as kids, grandchildren and even adults were our many trips to Baumgartner Campground. She and Roy made it a point to bring us all together as often as possible no matter how busy and complicated our lives became. She became the perfect grandma and thrived at it. As her family grew, so did her ability to love unconditionally. She had the sweetest laugh and a way about her that always made you feel special. Her kindness and selflessness will be forever missed. Her texts and telephone conversations always ended with “Sending all my love"….

Betty will be laid to rest beside Roy, the love of her life at 12:00, June 1st, 2024, at Sunset Memorial Park in Twin Falls, Idaho.

BINGO!!!

Fourth of July events started out with Bingo, which was held at the Community Center on Monday evening, July 3rd. Reports were this was the best-attended Bingo event Wendover has ever had.

Money raised from Bingo goes towards funding the community's 4th of July festivities.

During the event, the girl scouts sold drinks and desserts to raise money for their troop activities.

Dinner was provided by Fratelli Pizza, supplying free pizza to feed everyone playing Bingo.

Wendover Councilwoman Chris Pantelakis, who was on the 4th of July committee, wanted to make sure and recognize Jeff Durham for providing the pizza.

Earlier today, Pantelakis said, "The committee would like to give a huge gratitude to Jeff Durham with Fratelli Pizza. Not only did he originally donate pizza, but when the committee tried buying more, double the amount, he wouldn't let us pay for it and ended up donating double the original amount because we had such a huge turnout. More than three times the average Bingo turn out! And Jeff, any time it comes to the community, especially when it comes to kids, he is always supportive! The community loves him back!"

The committee is also thankful to the community for such a good turnout for Bingo and all the Fourth of July events.

Pantelakis also said, "After COVID, and not having 5 de Mayo this year, our community needed this to have fun! The committee has gotten nothing but great feedback from the community! I am very proud of our committee. Not only did we have a lot of first timers on the committee, we had a short time, and we've gotten a lot of ‘it's been the best or greatest 4th of July celebrations we've ever had!’ And that right there made all the hard work worth it! I want to give a huge thank you to the committee for all of their hard work, and to the community for coming together, from all of the donors, the vendors, to all of the parade entries for making all of this possible! We love our small community! And United we are stronger!”

The Wendover Times will be out Thursday afternoon in newspaper boxes and select businesses around town. Please make sure and check the newspaper for more 4th of July photos.

Also stay tuned to us on Facebook. We plan to post more 4th of July photos on Facebook throughout the next several days.
