I was very sad to hear of Norman Jewison’s death last Saturday at 97. He directed classic films across an impressively broad range of genres, including “The Thomas Crown Affair”; “In The Heat of the Night”; “Jesus Christ Superstar”; “Rollerball”; “Moonstruck”; “The Hurricane” and personal favourite, “The Cincinnati Kid” (1965). This scene has been etched into my memory since I was little.

Wild Winter Wonderlands Promo
A seasonal promo we made for Yesterday a few Christmases ago. Merry Xmas everyone! 🦅🎅 #DeathFromAbove #Nature #christmas
We are delighted to be able to show off our title sequence for 'Mama’s Boy', Laurent Bouzereau's powerful documentary about a mostly-paralyzed, conservative Christian mother, and her relationship with her gay son, Lance Black. The Oscar-winning writer of ‘Milk' also wrote the book the film is based on. The title sequence depicts an emotional divide that for a while kept Lance and his mother apart before they are eventually unified by their love for one other. SuperGrizzly also provided stills animation that feature throughout the film. - MAMA’S BOY is available on HBO and HBOMax.

Our third title sequence collaboration with director Sean Ellis was an expression of our mutual love affair with optical techniques employed in classic horror films such as 'The Thing'.
For 'The Cursed’, the main title typography was designed to dominate the screen, whilst being off-centre to suggest that all is not well. Once designed, a partially translucent piece of vinyl cut artwork was made and then shipped to France where Sean himself filmed it using a Time Shift Box which allows the film to advance in the gate with the shutter open. This creates a beautiful, unmistakably optical, streaking effect. This technique echoes that seen during some of the more frenetic creature encounters within the film itself. The film was scanned and then taken into After Effects where different passes were enhanced and combined to maximum effect.

The Duke Title Sequence by SuperGrizzly
SuperGrizzly’s title sequence for The Duke treats Jim Broadbent's Kempton Bunton like the brilliant international art thief that police assumed he was. This feel of the heist movie in the form of multiple screens is a nod to the work of the great crime-caper titles maestro, Pablo Ferro (The Thomas Crown Affair, Bullitt) and is a regular feature throughout the film. The small/big & colourless/gold typography is a representation of the David & Goliath battles that Bunton was habitually drawn to. This is a heart-warming film national treasure of a film that made us cry and laugh, from script to screen. Director Roger Michell's unique flare for touching and funny drama will be greatly missed. It was a honour to work with him this one time.

When making a Kent Police recruitment ad, sometimes it's necessary to put on your best burglar's outfit, run away from some police and jump over a fence. Although on this occasion it wasn't necessary at all, but I insisted anyway. I did it 5 times and the cops never even got close! I did get a splintered inner thigh however. You can see the few frames that made the edit here: https://www.facebook.com/SuperGrizzly/videos/843654246070768 (We decided we didn't need my very strange facial expression in the cut)

Louis' Snowflake
When I interviewed Louis Theroux a while back, I asked him about the time when he auditioned for a small part in a porn film and all the porn professionals laughed at his nude polaroid. The whole interview, minus this extra bit, can be seen here: http://supergrizzly.tv/work/louis-theroux-interview/
