*** Jump To Crimea ***
-October 2014-
Following the events of the 2014 Crimean Crisis, the world watched as Russian forces annexed Crimea and made it a part of the Russian Federation. Russian internal troops, supported by Cossack militiamen, have begun hunting down pro-Ukrainian resistance fighters in order to cement their control over the strategic peninsula.
A key figure in the Ukrainian resistance fled to Kacha, a small town on the Crimean coast, with the Russians and Cossacks in pursuit.
The world had not forgotten about Crimea however, with NATO acting in support of Ukraine, started an operation to retake Crimea and bring it into it's sphere of influence. After the Malaysian Airlines plane is shot down over war-torn Ukraine, the Australian Defense Forces deploy SOF troops to work in conjunction with NATO efforts in the region.
In the east, the Joint Allied SOF conducted an airborne operation to establish an airhead and execute a link up with the resistance.
Through an overwhelming display of force, NATO/AUS Airborne elements devastate Russian and Cossack forces in Crimea. Control of Kacha and later the rest of Crimea is seized in the assault.
Once again, our friend over at davehintzphoto.com graciously allowed us to use his photos he took while covering this event. Also good news, we at Rogue Correspondence recovered the remnants of our camera man's body, and the images he took.
