The Artemis II astronauts conducted a practice session for some of the pre-launch procedures they will need to perfect before their scheduled 2024 mission to the Moon.
NASA astronauts Reid, Glover, and Christina, along with Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy, woke up at their crew quarters at NASA Kennedy Space Center. They donned test versions of the Orion Crew Survival System spacesuits, which they will wear on launch day. Subsequently, they departed for Launch Pad 39B using the new Artemis crew transportation fleet.
Upon reaching the pad, the crew ascended the mobile launcher and made their way up the tower to the white room inside the crew access arm. Although there was no Orion spacecraft or Space Launch System rocket on the pad during this practice run, on the actual launch day, this is where the crew will take their final steps on Earth before embarking on their journey around the Moon.
