It's official! Shannon Downing has purchased the Baring Post Office property and is taking over the USPS contract! With the help of the community, she plans to bring back the Baring Post Office. The Baring community has been without a post office since it was destroyed by an EF2 tornado on August 4. Shannon (right) is shown signing the sale paperwork with Title Agent Tina Lymer (left) at the Knox County Abstract office in Edina last week. The sale officially closed today, Monday, April 15, 2024. Downing is already an established business owner. She owns and operates IDK Cafe in Baring. Congratulations Shannon and everyone in Baring! Great news!
