Alabama plans first nitrogen gas ex*****on after failed lethal injection. Kenneth Smith is set to be executed sometime between 12 a.m. on Thursday, January 25, and 6 a.m. on Friday, January 26. Ex*****on by nitrogen hypoxia raises serious concerns about potential pain, leading to a torturous death. The US Supreme Court declined intervention despite arguments about constitutional violations. Smith survived a previous attempt by lethal injection in 2022, where the state faced criticism for "botched" ex*****ons. In two cases, including Smith's, the ex*****ons were halted due to issues setting intravenous lines before death warrants expired.

📌Roach infestations in prisons can be a serious concern due to the unsanitary conditions often present. Roaches are resilient insects that thrive in dark, damp environments, making prison facilities with limited ventilation and overcrowded living spaces ideal breeding grounds.

These pests can negatively impact the overall hygiene of the facility, potentially leading to health issues for inmates and staff. Roaches are known to carry and spread diseases, contaminating surfaces and food sources within the prison environment. Allergies and respiratory problems may be exacerbated for individuals exposed to roach droppings and shed skin.

The challenges of addressing roach infestations in prisons are amplified by factors such as budget constraints, overcrowding, and limited resources. Implementing effective pest control measures requires a comprehensive approach, including routine cleaning, proper waste management, and repairs to infrastructure that may provide entry points for roaches.

Inmates often lack the means to control their living conditions, exacerbating the difficulty of managing roach populations. Collaborative efforts between correctional staff, maintenance teams, and pest control professionals are essential to mitigate these issues and create a more hygienic environment within prisons. Regular inspections, sanitation protocols, and education about preventive measures can contribute to long-term solutions for roach infestations in correctional facilities.

📌Inhumane living conditions in prisons can lead to legal ramifications. Inadequate living conditions, including poorly maintained showers, violate inmates' rights, inviting legal challenges. Correctional facilities could face lawsuits and financial penalties for failing to provide humane and constitutional living standards. Prioritizing the upkeep of shower areas is not only a matter of fiscal responsibility but also a legal imperative to uphold the rights of incarcerated individuals.

📣BAN HUMAN CAGES‼️

🗓️12/28/2023
📍East Mississippi Correctional Facility

📌Confining inmates to cages, instead of providing access to a recreational yard, violates basic human rights and worsens the impact of incarceration. This harsh confinement leads to severe mental and physical health issues, escalating aggression among inmates. In contrast, a recreational yard offers a vital lifeline, promoting well-being, defusing tension, and acknowledging the importance of rehabilitation in creating a safer and more humane society.

📍 Mississippi Department of Corrections

📌The non-compliance of SOP 24-02 is apparent as inmates still lack jackets climatically suitable for the current season at the following facilities:

- Holmes/Humphrey’s County Regional Correctional Facility
- Washington County Regional Correctional Facility
- Wilkinson County Correctional Facility

Despite assurance that jackets have been ordered since our initial contact with administration on 12/21/2023, and the facilities are climate-controlled, these three facilities stand out in non-compliance. Other facilities have had their state issued jackets for months. As indicated in SOP 24-02 [5-ACI-5D-06] The store of clothing, linen, and bedding exceeds that required for the facility’s inmate population. This emphasizes the consistent need for readily available climatically suitable clothing.

Swift action is essential to provide jackets for inmate well-being during outdoor activities, potential furnace malfunctions, and health related body temperature regulation issues. This ensures adherence to procedures and strengthens oversight in the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

📌 Similar to the previous video posted of an adjacent building at SMCI, this shower area underwent cosmetic upgrades with power washing and painting months before this recording. The shared conditions of the shower areas highlight deliberate indifference, neglecting mold remediation, and overlooking issues like unsanitary water, faulty fixtures, and corroded sprinklers, perpetuating unconstitutional living conditions at SMCI.

Prolonged neglect may lead to legal consequences. Urgent comprehensive repairs are crucial beyond health and safety, preventing recurring temporary solutions. Failure to address permanent repairs may also heighten financial burdens on taxpayers. SMCI is 1 of 4 Mississippi Department of Corrections facilities under investigation by the Department of Justice. We urge the public to voice concerns, filing complaints for urgent constitutional violations.
