⚾️ 33ish years ago before the ‘91 season, I was in Rite Aid with my mom. As left my mom’s side to go look at toys, I walked up on a hat rack. I remember the nostalgic rays of sunlight beaming through the store front glass and streaking through the slightly smokey air (people smoked in stores then) landing on a red and navy hat dawning a curly “A”. Something sparked inside of me and I said to myself “I think they’re going to do good this year.” I picked up the hat, found my mom and asked her if I could get it. That day, I walked out of that store a fan and have been a fan ever since.

Today, I stepped onto the little league field as a first time head coach with my son, both of us wearing the red and navy with the curly “A” on our heads. With all my dreams of becoming a baseball player never becoming a reality, I didn’t foresee the new nostalgia God would plant through the enjoyment of baseball and the Braves with my family. I wish I could have sensed the nostalgia as it was happening as a kid. I’m thankful for the blessing of experiencing a new nostalgia now as it’s happening, and that I get to be a part of it when my kids look back at their childhood 33 years from now. 🙌

As amazing as handfuls of hard rice being thrown at our faces at mock 10 was and as amazing we expected the future to be, we had no accurate idea of just how amazing the next 17 years would be. Can’t be outwardly explained, can’t be adequately verbalized. Only us and the Lord know the depths. We can only say: He is good. 🙌

There’s nobody better than my wifey, who thought so far ahead and selflessly bought tickets for me and the bigs to see . It was SO fun! The cast was FANTASTIC and the pit orchestra/band was 🤘🔥! We all thought the Schuyler sisters were particularly excellent. And the staff at Altria were so helpful and kind. Thank you, for blessing your family. I love you!

Looking forward to the new book dropping 2/28. Just read the intro and I believe this is going to be an important book for the Church in America. Over the past few years of being confronted by politics that don’t represent Jesus and those who blur the line between Jesus and country, looking to those I keep company with (in Biblical perspective) was pivotal in holding a clear line of where my citizenship truly lies: in Jesus’ Kingdom. Bold teachers like Platt, , and are good company to keep. They help make being a stranger in this land a holy status. I’m grateful.
