PSA: A Smash Bros movie is NOT happening.

Most people understand this and are just having fun with the idea. However, a few seem to believe it and are spreading misinformation so let's spell out why.

The existing films in this poster were ALL by different production companies. Paramount made Sonic, Warner Bros made Detective Pikachu, and Illumination made Mario. They might not own the characters but they have rights over these depictions and you'd need the cooperation of ALL these media giants to proceed.

And that's before you get into the gaming companies signing off. People seem to forget Nintendo does NOT have full control over Kirby and Pikachu. You'd need to get an ok by HAL and Pokemon Company/Game Freak respectively for those two. Then you'd have to get Nintendo to greenlight a Metroid + Zelda film (doubtful) and Sega playing along to get even this poster started.

Simply put there's just TOO many hands in this pot for it to be feasible. If a Smash Bros. film ever does happen it'd need to be planned out years in advance with control not so convoluted and fractured. I get we're all happy the Mario movie made so much money and there's exciting talks about sequels but let's not go crazy. Let's just enjoy the sequels we are getting (DK spin off seems likely) and maybe we'll get a SBU series some other time :)

P.S. Are the Minions folks REALLY the company you want handling Metroid? 😬

I took mushrooms and tried painting along to Bob Ross. Left is what we were going for and the nightmare ant on the right is what I ended up with. 😂

It's not quite as majestic but I still think Bob & Peapod the squirrel would be proud of me. 🐜🎨
