24/07/2024

Our unsettled weather pattern will likely continue through the weekend, with the main axis of heavy rainfall shifting closer to the coast. Some coastal areas could see up to 4-8 inches of rain leading to an elevated risk of flash flooding. Chances for isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms will remain in the forecast as far north as central and east Texas, with additional rainfall totals across this area possibly reaching up to 1-2 inches. Dry and hotter conditions are expected to return next week.

Forecast additional rainfall amounts through Sunday:

23/07/2024

A complex of showers and thunderstorms developed over the Hill Country last night bringing widespread heavy rain to the region. Some flooding has occurred this morning as the complex tracks slowly eastward. Heavy rainfall and flooding will remain a threat this week as elevated moisture levels persist and soils become more saturated.

10am Radar:

20/07/2024

A wetter and cooler than normal weather pattern is forecast across Texas next week. Expect a daily risk of showers and thunderstorms across most areas, with locally heavy rainfall possible. Much of the state will likely see up to 1-3 inches of rain by next Friday, with locally higher amounts possible. With the clouds and rain around we should see temperatures averaging below normal levels.

Forecast rainfall totals by next Friday:

17/07/2024

An unsettled weather pattern is expected over the next week, with a daily risk of showers and thunderstorms. Not all areas will see rain every day, but there's a good chance you will see at least some by the middle part of next week. The clouds and rain should help to keep temperatures at or below normal levels for the foreseeable future.

Forecast rainfall totals by next Wednesday:

15/07/2024

Seasonably hot and dry weather is expected over the next few days. Rain chances and cooler temperatures are forecast to return later this week and possibly continue into next week as a series of disturbances move across the region. As of now I don't see any heat waves through the remainder of July and the tropics look quiet for the foreseeable future. You love to see it!

06/07/2024

Confidence is increasing that Beryl will likely make landfall somewhere around Rockport or Matagorda Bay on Monday morning as a hurricane. Most of the strong winds and heavy rainfall should occur along and east of the track, which will likely prevent the IH-35 corridor from seeing much with this system. Beryl is expected to be a relatively quick moving storm, with typical summertime weather forecast to return to most areas on Tuesday.

05/07/2024

Unfortunately the forecast track for Beryl has shifted northward, and it now looks like a strengthening hurricane will likely make landfall somewhere along the Texas coast on Monday. If these northward trends persist, most of the impacts should occur east of the IH-35 corridor. Anyone near the Texas coast should be prepping for possible hurricane impacts in a few days.

03/07/2024

Rain chances will return to the northern half of the state Friday into the weekend as a weak frontal boundary sags southward. This front will likely help to pull Beryl northwestward, and it should make landfall in northeastern Mexico or south Texas Sunday into Monday as a tropical storm or hurricane. While details remain unclear this far out, we can expect to see increasing rain chances across south Texas during this time.

02/07/2024

Powerful Hurricane Beryl is currently passing south of Puerto Rico, with Jamaica and the Yucatan Peninsula likely to see significant impacts later this week. It should reach the western Gulf of Mexico this weekend, where forecast confidence drops significantly. Most of the model guidance is indicating a final landfall should occur in northeastern Mexico or south Texas Sunday into Monday as a tropical storm or hurricane. The risk of seeing at least some impacts from this storm appears to be increasing, especially across southern parts of the state.

19/06/2024

4pm Radar Update: A large area of tropical rain showers are spreading westward across the southern half of the state. This activity will continue to track westward across the region into tomorrow, with localized flash flooding remaining a threat, mainly across south Texas. Enjoy the rain and cooler temperatures over the next few days!

17/06/2024

A tropical disturbance has formed in the southwestern Gulf of Mexico. This system will likely become a tropical storm over the next few days as it tracks northwestward. Landfall is forecast to occur in northeastern Mexico Wednesday night. The storm's large size is expected to bring impacts in the form of heavy rainfall and gusty winds well north of the center and into south Texas. Heavy rain could reach as far north as central Texas Wednesday into Thursday.

There will likely be a sharp cutoff in rainfall amounts from north to south across Texas. As a result the forecast confidence is quite low right now...even just a few days out. Please stay tuned for updates!

13/06/2024

High pressure will bring hot and dry weather to the region over the next few days. Rain chances are forecast to increase mainly across the southern half of the state Sunday into next week as a surge of tropical moisture moves in from the Gulf of Mexico. Some tropical development will be possible with this system, with landfall most likely occurring in northeastern Mexico.

Possible rainfall totals next week:

11/06/2024

4pm Radar Update: A broken line of showers and thunderstorms currently stretches from near College Station to Austin to Rocksprings. This line will continue to track southward into this evening, with gusty winds and heavy rainfall likely accompanying the strongest storms.

11/06/2024

Another complex of showers and thunderstorms has developed across north Texas this morning. This activity will likely track southeastward across the state today before weakening in south Texas tonight. A few strong to severe storms and locally heavy rainfall will be possible with this system.

Rain chances will linger into tomorrow mainly across central Texas. We should then see dry weather return Thursday into the weekend. Attention will then turn towards the Gulf of Mexico next week as a surge of tropical moisture possibly approaches the coast.

Forecast Radar at 7pm today:

24/05/2024

More hot and dry weather is expected over the next several days across the southern half of Texas as high pressure remains over the area. High temperatures will likely reach near or above 100F each day into early next week. North Texas will continue to see slightly cooler temperatures along with a daily risk of some strong to severe thunderstorms into the weekend.

We could see rain chances and slightly cooler temperatures spread to a larger part of the state next week as a weak cool front sags southward.

Forecast rainfall totals by next Friday morning:

14/05/2024

High pressure will briefly build in over the next few days bringing dry weather back to the region. Chances for showers and thunderstorms will return Thursday into Friday as the next disturbance moves through. This system will bring another risk of strong to severe storms and locally heavy rainfall, mainly to the northern and eastern half of the state.

Dry and hotter weather is expected this weekend into next week.

Forecast rainfall amounts through Friday:

12/05/2024
06/05/2024

A hotter and drier weather pattern will likely return over the next few days as high pressure builds in. A cold front will push through Thursday into Friday bringing a risk of showers and thunderstorms, mainly to the central and eastern parts of the state. Cooler temperatures are expected behind the front, with rain chances possibly increasing again over the weekend.

Forecast high temperatures on Wednesday:

04/05/2024

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are currently developing in west Texas. This activity will likely form into a large cluster tonight into tomorrow as it tracks southeastward across the state. Some severe weather and flooding rainfall will be possible. Hotter and drier weather should return next week.

Forecast radar at 4am Sunday:

29/04/2024

After a wet and stormy weekend for much of the state, an unsettled weather pattern will likely persist over the next week. Unfortunately it looks like far south and west Texas could continue to miss out on most of the rain. Daily chances for showers and thunderstorms will remain in the forecast mainly for areas along and north of IH-10 through the upcoming weekend. A risk of some strong storms and locally heavy rainfall will return at times later this week.

Possible additional rainfall totals by next Monday:

27/04/2024

A line of showers and thunderstorms will likely track eastward across the northern half of the state (generally north of IH-10) tonight into tomorrow. A few strong to severe storms will be possible, with the greatest risk across north Texas. We could see daily chances for showers and thunderstorms remain in the forecast much of next week as additional disturbances move through.

Forecast Radar at 5am tomorrow (Sunday):

25/04/2024
23/04/2024

After a beautiful start to the week, temperatures and humidity levels will rise over the next several days. Rain chances are forecast to increase over the northern half of Texas Friday into the weekend as a few disturbances move through. Some strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible at times. As we head into next week, there are signs that rain chances could spread southward across the state.

Possible rainfall totals through next Tuesday:

19/04/2024

A disturbance and cold front will move across the state over the next few days. Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms will likely develop along and behind the front, with the highest rain chances arriving tomorrow (Saturday). A few strong to severe storms and locally heavy rainfall will be possible. Cooler and drier conditions are forecast to return Sunday into early next week.

Forecast radar at 6pm tomorrow (Saturday):

17/04/2024

Isolated to widely scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible over the next few days as some weak disturbances move across the region. A few strong to severe storms will be possible, mainly during the late afternoon and evening hours each day. A more widespread round of showers and thunderstorms will likely arrive this weekend as a cold front pushes through. It currently looks like a large part of Texas should see some beneficial rainfall from this system!

Forecast rainfall totals through Sunday:

10/04/2024

After showers and thunderstorms impacted a large part of Texas over the past few days, drier weather is expected through the weekend as high pressure builds in. Rain chances are forecast to return mainly to the northern part of the state early next week, with another round of strong to severe storms possible late Monday into early Tuesday. Rain chances could then spread southward into central and south Texas later next week.

Here are the estimated observed rainfall totals over the past few days. How much rain did you receive?
