this post starts off with a big deep sigh...

to have made it through the bulk of my DJ music career, only to have finally had the opportunities just over the past 5ish years to meet and converse with some of my favorite musicians and recording artists of all time, well lemme just say it's been an absolute dream come true, and the bucket list of my life has had many items crossed off of it.
to be able to have one-on-one conversations and correspondence with some of alternative music's biggest names and most iconic players, has been a thrill, and a blessing.
my/our times with members/founders of groups like A Flock Of Seagulls, Haircut 100 (Nick Heyward), Visage (Rusty Egan, Billy Currie), Colourbox (Debbion Currie), Real Life (David Sterry), Republica (Saffron), Portugal. The Man (Eric Howk and Jason Sechrist), The Blow Monkeys (Dr. Robert), When In Rome aka Farrington-Mann (Clive Farrington and Andrew Mann), Dub Fx, Ted Ottaviano (Book of Love), Fee Waybill (The Tubes), Strange Advance (Drew Arnott), Rough Trade (Carole Pope), Information Society (James Cassidy and Christopher Anton), Men Without Hats (Ivan Doroschuk), San Cisco (Jordi Davieson), and a couple of dozen others to date.. it's been a privilege and a blast! let's do it again!!

well, if you're reading this, then it means we both made it to another Friday, wooo-hooo! yep.

i hope allz well in your world.
wanted to let everyone know, too, that my prayers for a new (used) laptop were answered this past week! i've been wanting and needing for some time now to be able to utilize two laptops for the amount of online projects that are ongoing for me.
so thanks (by chance(?)) to two good friends who more than saved the day!
now, one laptop is solely for the radio station projects, and the DJ mixing system i use.. and the other is for absolutely everything else.
there's so much space, storage, etc used up by the radio station and mixing system constantly that it overloaded my old laptop to the point it was glitch-screening all the time. kinda hard to get anything done when your pc is in constant stutter mode.
anyways, it's off to the races for some folks this morning, and back to the grind for others.
have yourself an incredibly marvelous day and weekend!

for those of you who are curious about the place i've called "home" for over a year now, this short video that i just found on YouTube kinda gives you an idea what this desert town is like.
note:
the Obscurist Tourist apparently wasn't aware of the fact that the filming for Eddington had just taken place prior to his visit. he refers to a handful of remade businesses and storefronts as if they were legitimate entities.
2nd note:
i noticed that he was standing right in front of our studio/gallery as he was filming other businesses on Broadway, but he never turned around to shoot the place behind him..

Day-Glo magic is in the air, and T Or C is the place to experience it, starting this coming Saturday night at 2nd Saturday Art Hop for September!
ArtFox Art, formerly located at 417 North Broadway Street in the downtown area, has grown wings and has positioned itself at The Pelican Spa complex at 300 South Pershing Street for an ongoing Day-Glo art exhibition called "POP IMPERFECTO: A Day-Glo Experience"!!
Every Friday and Saturday night from 8pm to 10pm, visitors, tourists, and local residents can come down and experience the incredibly fascinating world of Day-Glo Pop Art imagery in a simply wild fantasy setting!
No reservations needed, and there is no admission charge for the exhibition! Purchasing can be done through CashApp or cash if you find something you love and can't live without!
Since ArtFox Art debuted in T Or C this past February, hundreds of people have visited the space, and the feedback and reviews were nothing but stellar!
Now, the rest of Sierra County have the opportunity again to be able to come see the crazy-cool art of Pacific Northwest artist Darren Ervin-Fox at "ARTFOX ART's POP IMPEFECTO"!

i hate thinking or even admitting i might be a little dependent on the internet...
if i didn't have the radio project, distant connections and other things that need online attention, it wouldn't be a big deal.. but never fails that when i'm offline for any amount of time is when things that require my attention happen to pop up...
i think i was only offline about 4 days, maybe, but i've been chomping to get access all this time so i can get some extremely crucial, time-sensitive tasks done.

hello.... is anyone there? there.. there.. there... there...

anyways, it's late, and i've had a heckuva lot of things happen over the past week or two, so i think i'll crash and catch up on everything tomorrow...

Good evening. I'm DJ D-Phoenix. I'm originally from Olympia, Washington, currently residing in New Mexico.
Those that have known me since waaaaay back could probably tell you that one thing i'm known for is my indecisiveness. Good or bad, i've had the tendency to go back and forth, or side to side, when it comes to making decisions of any kind. some would say it's a bad trait, others would understand that's just part of me.
Either way, i am what i am what i am... and what i am is a DJ, whose half-assed DJ career started at the tail end of his senior year of high school in 1984 in an all-age nightclub in Olympia.
As of May 2024, i told myself i wouldn't be doing anymore LIVE appearances or gigs, just shortly after the performance at T Or C's Fiesta event. That still holds true; but music is a part of my fiber, and sharing music with people is part of my makeup.
With that being said, the plan is to restart periodic DJ sets and posting them online. Currently, i am at the threshold of a physical move, and it will probably be another few weeks to a month before i could even consider or have the time to pull off a decent set.
Once i'm situated in a new location, i will begin to put that all together.
tonight, i want to thank those of you have supported, promoted, and participated in my numerous events over the past 40 years. it's your support that has kept me inspired and motivated to continue playing in the music industry.
to skew a classic line from a classic movie, i'll leave y'all with this:
