💰🚔 $100 million dollars has been awarded to a man that was left paralyzed from the neck down after being tased by a police officer.

Jerry Blasingame, 69, was panhandling in Atlanta and started running after he was approached by an officer. The officer then shot Blasingame with a taser, causing him to fall forward hitting his head on the ground, breaking his neck and suffering a brain injury.

A federal jury concluded the officer used excessive force during the incident. Meanwhile, Blasingame now requires around-the-clock medical care and has amounted up over $14 million dollars in medical expenses.

“Since he’s not under arrest, he can run or do whatever he wants to do,” the man’s attorney said. “Jerry then fell again, face forward, face planted in smashing his head, multiple facial fractures, brain injury and broke his neck.”

⚖️✏️ Sullivan Walter, 53 (left), has now been exonerated after spending over 36 years in prison for a r**e he didn’t commit. His exoneration was made possible thanks to the efforts of Innocence Project New Orleans (IPNO).

IPNO says Walter was 17 years old when he was arrested, but "was prosecuted as an adult. This is the longest known wrongful incarceration of a juvenile in Louisiana history and the fifth longest in U.S. history.”

The only witness of the crime, the victim, mistakenly pinned Walter as the ra**st. Genetic evidence that would have cleared Walter, including blood and other bodily fluids from the crime scene, never made it to trial. Police also made conflicting statements of the crime which, again, never made it to trial.

“The lawyers and law enforcement involved acted as if they believed that they could do what they chose to a Black teenager from a poor family and would never be scrutinized or held to account,” IPNO said.

"This is not just about individuals and their choices, but the systems that let them happen.”

⚖️💰Ghislaine Maxwell is now being sued by the law firm that represented her for nearly $1 million dollars in unpaid legal fees.

The firm is also suing her brother after he allegedly misled the firm about payments that would be made. He repeatedly assured the team that they’d be compensated but seemed to make “sporadic” fractional payments.

While Ghislaine’s brother last made a $141,000 payment to the firm, the lawsuit alleges a large percentage of the legal fees have not been paid for.

The law firm had represented Ghislaine since 2015.

🔎❓BREAKING: Jeffrey Epstein’s former boss, Steven Hoffenberg, has been found dead in his Connecticut home.

Police found his body rotting away after performing a wellness check and said the body was “in a state where a visual identification could not be made.”

Police added, “Every indication is that it is Mr. Hoffenberg. There’s nothing to suggest that it isn’t. We believe it’s him. We’re just waiting for dental records.”

Hoffenberg was formerly Epstein’s boss at Towers Financial Corp, a company that ran a ponzu scheme, where Hoffenberg and company investors previously noted that Epstein helped carry out the ponzu scheme which eventually landed Hoffenberg in prison for 18 years.

In a 2018 lawsuit, company investors said Epstein “knowingly and intentionally utilized funds he fraudulently diverted and obtained from this massive Ponzi scheme for his own personal use to support a lavish lifestyle.”

💰✏️ NEW: Kobe Bryant’s widow, Vanessa, has been awarded $16 million dollars after a federal jury found Los Angeles County violated her rights.

First responders took photos of the human remains at the site of the helicopter crash and shared the pictures with others internally, an act that the federal jury determined Vanessa Bryant and other co-plaintiff’s rights and caused emotional distress.

Some officers and first responders were found to have shared images with people they didn’t know and casually shared the images in a group chat while playing video games.

The Biden administration has, on multiple occasions, mentioned their support for canceling up to $10,000 but have yet to make a formal announcement on the matter.

That formal commitment is expected to be made sometime later this week but has not yet finalized the exact dollar amount that will be forgiven.

✏️🇸🇬 Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong confirmed his country will repeal a ban on gay s*x, but will continue to ban gay marriage.

The PM said during a speech, “The government will repeal Section 377A and decriminalize s*x between men. I believe this is the right thing to do, and something that most Singaporeans will accept".

“Let me reassure everyone that in handling the issue, the government will continue to uphold families as the basic building blocks of society,” he added.

✏️🇺🇸 New York has signed a law making workplace terminology more inclusive by replacing “antiquated” gender-specific terms like “salesman” with gender neutral terms like “salesperson”.

Previously, the state’s real estate law frequently referred to "salesmen" and used many gender-specific words he, him, and his while having no reference to “saleswomen” and only a few references to “salespeople”.

“Jobs have no gender, but unfortunately, many of our state’s laws still use gendered language when discussing professions that are practiced by people of all genders,” a New York State Senator said.

The bill’s sponsor, Assemblyman Danny O’Donnell, says, “We want our workplaces to reflect the diversity of New York, and the best way to achieve that goal is by making sure all realtors feel that they belong and the profession is accessible.”

🔫 🇺🇸 New York’s governor has made it illegal to sell toy guns that are realistic-looking and finished with a black, blue, silver or aluminum color that imitates a real gun.

Instead, toy guns can be “white, bright red, bright orange, bright yellow, bright green, bright blue, bright pink, bright purple, or transparent,” according to the new law.

"Restricting these realistic-looking devices will ensure misleading and potentially dangerous devices are off our streets, keeping kids, law enforcement and all New Yorkers safe,” the governor said.

🍎 Florida’s Vero Beach school district will be placing AR-15 rifles and ammunition in schools to allow for a faster and more forceful response to school shooters, according to the sheriff.

The rifle will be transported each morning to school by a school resource officer and placed in a safe, then is removed at the end of the day.

"When bad guys show up with guns, they're going to find our guns," Indian River County Sheriff Eric Flowers.

"If they're coming at us with an AR-15, we're gonna return with the same or greater firepower.”

✏️📚 Sesame Place will begin diversity and inclusion training for employees following discrimination accusations, a $25 million dollar lawsuit, and footage of the employees dressed as characters not high-fiving or hugging children of color.

“We are committed to making sure our guests feel welcome, included and enriched by their visits to our park,” the President of Sesame Place Philadelphia said.

New employees will be given inclusion and diversity training upon being hired. The training material will be provided by civil rights educators.

Employees may also be retrained on the subject matter as diversity and inclusion training “will become a regular part of our training and workforce development,” a company statement said.

📱🚔 Meta, the parent company of Instagram and Facebook, provided private messages between a 17-year-old and her mother to police in Nebraska in response to a warrant.

Police used the messages to charge the teen for getting an abortion 3 weeks past Nebraska’s 20-month ban on the procedure.

The 17-year-old has been charged as an adult and is awaiting trial on charges of removing/concealing/abandoning a dead human body, concealing the death of another person and false reporting.

The Norfolk Police Department was given a tip suggesting the teen had a miscarriage and buried the fetus with the help of her mom.

When police used a warrant to obtain the girl’s private messages, they allegedly discovered the teen took pills to induce an abortion at 23-weeks, three weeks beyond the state’s limit.

🌝✨ A prominent French scientist, Étienne Klein, has apologized after posting a close up image of chorizo and pretending it was an image taken with the James Webb Telescope.

The physicist posted the image, which many of his followers believed was real, and said the telescope captured a “Picture of Proxima Centauri, the nearest star to the Sun, located 4.2 light years away from us. It was taken by the James Webb Space Telescope. This level of detail... A new world is unveiled everyday.”

He later apologized to those that fell for his hoax and added, “In view of certain comments, I feel obliged to specify that this tweet showing an alleged picture of Proxima Centauri was a joke. Let's learn to be wary of the arguments from positions of authority as much as the spontaneous eloquence of certain images."

🐠 The Australian Institute of Marine Science has reported that the Great Barrier Reef is seeing its highest levels of cover in the past 40 years.

While the reef is still suffering damage and bleaching, it has shown a surprising ability to rebuild and recover.

"Every summer the Reef is at risk of temperature stress, bleaching and potentially mortality and our understanding of how the ecosystem responds to that is still developing," The Australian Institute of Marine Science CEO said.

"The 2020 and 2022 bleaching events, while extensive, didn't reach the intensity of the 2016 and 2017 events and, as a result, we have seen less mortality," he added.

"These latest results demonstrate the Reef can still recover in periods free of intense disturbances."

🚔🍎 Police in Madison County in North Carolina will be putting AR-15s in six of the district’s schools in case of a school shooting.

The rifles will be in a safe and are intended to decrease the response time to an active shooter situation.

Hopefully we'll never need it, but I want my guys to be as prepared as prepared can be," the sheriff said. Extra ammo and equipment to breach locked doors will also be in the safes.

"In the event we have someone barricaded in a door, we won't have to wait on the fire department.”

💅🥇 Diana Armstrong, 63, has been awarded “longest fingernails on a pair of hands” on a female as well as “longest fingernails on a pair of hands ever” on a female.

The Guinness World Record holder stopped cutting her fingernails back in 1997 after her daughter died.

“Anytime I thought about cutting them off, it gave me chills like I’m going through that grief all over again. I didn’t want to go through that again, so I just kept them. It’s like keeping her close to me,” she told reporters.

“When I started growing them, it wasn’t to be in the Guinness Book of World Records,” she added.

“Now since I am, I tell people, ‘You shouldn’t judge people because you don’t know what people have gone through.’”

At least 3 were killed and 6 others were wounded by the man. He’s been identified as 48-year-old Liu Xiaohui, a resident in the area.

“After committing the crime, he escaped and threw away his cap, mask and bag,” police said. There is a reward equivalent to $15,000 for information leading to his arrest.

🧪🌕 Scientists at UCLA discovered that pits on the moon provide an ideal temperature for long-term human habitation.

Wide-ranging surface temperatures have been a primary barrier blocking astronauts from safely staying on the moon for long periods of time as they’d have to avoid harsh surface temperatures.

While the pits were discovered in 2009, now scientists understand that temperature in the pits varies slightly from an average of 63° F (17°C) as opposed to over 200° F during the day and minus 260° F at night.

“Lunar pits are a fascinating feature on the lunar surface,” a Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter scientist said. “Knowing that they create a stable thermal environment helps us paint a picture of these unique lunar features and the prospect of one day exploring them.”
