A nice couple of days spent at one of the islands just a few hours sail from Stavanger. Good sand bottom anchorage which is kinda rare around here and a free mooring to use. Turned out to be a good spot to use the wing with the anchorage protected from the sea but the relatively flat island allows good wind to funnel through!!

The little vessel has been frozen into the berth quite a lot this winter. Not enough that it’s impossible to leave the dock but enough to freeze some of the pipework inside. Looking forward to some slightly warmer weather!

Thanks for the kind hospitality guys! .jeanne .p.anderson awesome to check out your new beast of an expedition yacht! Was cold, windy and wet but super cosy sailing in the pilot house with the fireplace keeping us warm.

Looking forward to some exiting times exploring up in these colder climates.⛵️❄️

If it’s to deep to anchor and there’s no dock around we have recently been tying up to the shore which opens up our options to explore more remote areas.

Nice and simple if the shore bolts are already installed and also the tides in Norway are pretty minimal. Some longer bowlines and a bowsprit with a ladder would probably make it much easier to climb down. New addition to the project list.

This is a small island group just a few miles off Stavanger on the West Coast of Norway. Great to visit in weather like this but would hate to see it when the North Sea is blowing a gale!! Narrow entrance between the shallow islands with a perfect dock right in the village.

Amazing spot to visit when cruising the Flørli Staircase. 4,444 stairs directly up from the mooring spot to the mountaintop, alongside and old hydro power station. Turns out to be the worlds longest staircase & well worth the visit.

Lysefjord & is only a few miles from our home berth but surprisingly this is only our second time visiting by boat and first time in the new boat. Such a spectacular view with the cliffs rising up to 600m vertical from the fjord.

Without doubt Stavanger is of the best places we’ve had the pleasure of sailing. Hundreds of islands scattered from the coast all the way inland towards the fjords with plenty of amazing mooring spots to explore the islands.

Spent plenty of time the last few weeks enjoying the good weather, (between the rain squalls) visiting some new spots and getting to know the new boat.

Hi all! It’s been a while since you heard from us, but we finally have a new video to share of our time visiting Raroia in the Tuamotus, French Polynesia.

We love sharing the videos with all of you guys when we find the time to edit so we’ll do our best to keep the frequency up and share the rest of the journey down to New Zealand.

Enjoy 😊

Some lovely winter weather the last few days with near freezing air temps but calm blue skies and plenty of snow on the mountains here in Stavanger. The diesel heater got a good workout trying to keep the boat warm although we are planning to find a suitable fireplace so if anyone has any tips on a good setup please let us know.

Langøy is not far from the city with a free dock for cruisers to use and a bunch of other facilities set up by the kommune like walking tracks and bbq’s. Quite a busy spot in the warmer months but almost empty in winter, perfect time to be out in the islands exploring and letting the pup adjust to boatlife.

We got a new boat!!! ⛵️Yew!
She’s a lovely 36ft Najad 360 built in 1986 on the famous island of Orust in Sweden and we couldn’t be happier to find the boat we wanted, especially after quite a few months of boat hunting.
Quite a lot smaller then our previous boat especially inside but the weight remains the same (approx 10 ton) and we are stoked about a few features we wanted in this boat such as a shorter mast, encapsulated keel, center cockpit and a skeg rudder to name a few.
Hopefully this opens the door to plenty or remote places that lie to the north of us in Norway and the Arctic for some long awaited cold weather cruising. Let the boatjobs begin… Again.🥶🇳🇴⛵️

So we’re back in Norway, back to exactly where we started our journey a few years ago in Stavanger. We took the easy route this time instead of the normal slow sailing we are used to and instead jumped on a 30 hour flight from New Zealand.
Being back here without a boat is kinda strange but while we are eagerly hunting down our next boat we will be catching up on our videos of the South Pacific, which are are few months behind.
A few late summer pics of a very busy day up at Lyssefjorden.

Another video is up of our 400 mile crossing from Fatu Hiva to the Tuamotu Islands. The Tuamotus consist of the largest chain of atolls in the world which is pretty much a ring of reef around a lagoon in the middle. To get in or out of these lagoons with a boat you need to time it with the right tide and weather as it can get quite hectic if not. In this video we make it through our very first atoll pass on Raroia, the island where Thor Heyerdahl himself first landed with the Kon-Tiki raft. Check out the full video in the link below👇🏼 Enjoy!

Hi all!
A new video is up of another offshore passage as we make our way down south to our first Atoll in the South Pacific! We have a bit of a bumpy start as we set off from the Marquesas with lots of rain, but luckily the sun came out on the last few days. Hope you all enjoy it! Cheers

A few happy snaps of some family visiting time down on the South Island.
After moving off the boat we had the giant task of loading all our life’s belongings accumulated from 5 years onboard into this tiny car. I’m still unsure how we managed but with all our surfboards on the roof and an overloaded boot somehow we made it work.
Although a little sad to be away from the boat it was great to spend plenty of time with family and explore Kaikoura before arranging the big flights back to Norway.

We have sold our floating home!!! We’re stoked and pretty sad at the same time as it’s an end to an era and another step towards our next adventure.
It’s been 5 years aboard and over 20 thousand miles from Norway to New Zealand and our beloved Beaver has been our safe haven through it all. From the cold winters in Norway to the isolated Atolls of the remote Pacific we had some of the best times of our lives as well as of the toughest. The list is endless of all the lessons we have learnt and we are humbled by this great experience.
Our plan is to make our way back to Norway where we started and begin shopping our next boat that’s ticks all the box’s for our planned adventures up this way. If anyone has a boat for sale or know any fine vessels in the area (Norway ish) be sure to reach out and let us know.
For those of you that watch the videos you would know they are quite a few months behind so there’s still plenty to come as we catch up making our way across the pacific.
Stay tuned and cheers for the support!

This anchorage sums up perfectly why everyone makes the effort to cross the Pacific. To arrive in one the worlds most remote islands after so many days at sea is a pretty special experience. New episode up on YouTube of us doing just that. 👇

The final part of our big Pacific Crossing is now online ⬇️ On this last leg of the journey it is getting harder to tell one day apart from the next as we all have established our own routines onboard and have adjusted to this new life at sea in constant motion.

The anticipation of reaching land is ever growing after spending 32 days at sea and completing our biggest journey to date, both physically and mentally.

Its hard to express with words the feeling of reaching one of the worlds most remote island groups in your own tiny vessel using only the force of the wind, but we have definitely tried to share this experience through our lens in this episode.

Make sure you check it out🙏🏻

Part 2 of our 4,000 mile Crossing of the Pacific Ocean direct from Panama to French Polynesia. As we edge closer to Galapagos we are left with the tricky decision to either go North or South of the islands and how best to navigate our way through the fickle breezes and tricky currents.

Another huge milestone is celebrated onboard as we cross the equator and make our way into the southern hemisphere. Check it out🤙
