Never thought I would be posting about a Logan Paul Podcast but here I am. I thought it was worth sharing because I shared it with my crew of Yp's.

I think this is worth a listen to for two reasons. Regardless of how you like/agree/not like/don't agree with the answers, there are 2 things that came to mind with this:

1. I think the questions they are asking are representative of the questions I hear students who are coming to our youth nights with no church background or students who are familiar with Jesus, are asking and seeking to know more about. Maybe it's just a CA thing (I don't think so) but I feel these are the questions we need to know how to address in a real way.

2. I love how Cliffe and Stuart acknowledge and address the questions and their posture towards them asking difficult questions. I think this is the posture we need to have when students bring up real things. I really liked that.

Either way, I think its worth a listen or watch. This is one of the biggest podcasts in the world, the Gospel was presented, and real questions were asked.

Popular pastors Cliffe & Stuart Knechtle debate God with Logan Paul, discuss gay marriage & abortion rights, if Logan & Mike are going to Heaven or Hell, how...

I have a new blog post on the Download Youth Ministry blog this week. Hope it's helpful as you build your teams this year.

In the dynamic world of youth ministry, volunteers are the heartbeat that keeps the mission alive. It's not merely about filling roles; it's about finding the right individuals for specific roles, about how people “feel” when serving on our teams, and if they feel like they

Wrote a little something on casting vision. Practical ideas on how to practice this skill set with a team for ministry.

Casting vision for recruiting volunteers isn't just about filling roles; it's about painting a compelling picture of how their involvement can shape the destiny of young hearts. Often, younger leaders find themselves seeking guidance on how to effectively communicate this vision. Here are some pract...

Service isn’t just about tasks; it’s about building a close-knit family within our volunteer teams. Community and connection are the secret sauce that transforms volunteering into a passionate commitment.

Building a vibrant team culture transcends the service hours. It’s about creating a space where every volunteer feels like they belong, where their voice is heard, and their presence is valued. When we foster connections, we cultivate a spirit of togetherness that amplifies our impact.

Community Breeds Commitment
When our volunteers feel connected—when they’re not just a part of a team but part of a family—they invest their hearts. That investment leads to unwavering commitment, and that commitment creates an environment where everyone thrives.

From Volunteering to Family
Our aim isn’t just to gather volunteers; it’s to cultivate a family. An environment where laughter echoes, support abounds, and where everyone feels they’re contributing to something meaningful. That’s where the life change happens.

In the world of youth ministry, we often find ourselves balancing between what seems spectacular on the surface and what truly fosters long-term spiritual growth in our students. Empowered volunteers create empowered youth. We can't just be looking for volunteers; we have to be building a community where their voices matter, their ideas are valued, and their impact is immeasurable.

Sitting by the fire thoughts:

Can't stop chatting about certain leadership decisions to anyone and everyone? Then leading might not be your forte. If you can't yield to better ideas, frustration will be your constant companion in leadership. And if maintaining an image of perfection is your priority, leading people might not be your path.

Ministry leadership thrives on transparency, adaptability, and a willingness to learn. It's about fostering an environment where everyone's voice matters, where collaboration and shared wisdom make you way more influential (still learning this).

Because in the world of youth ministry, successful leadership isn't about perfection; it's about growth, teamwork, and empowering others.

‎Show Youth Ministry Hacks, Ep Episode 117: Hacks On Keeping Your Small Groups Engaged - Dec 11, 2023

Youth Ministry Note: The outside atmosphere of the night is just as important as the inside atmosphere of the night. If you have a killer program with super intentional ideas and spaces inside, but give no thought and as detailed for the outside, it changes the whole experience.

Do you need a huge budget? No. Do you need a bunch of stuff? No Can God still work without it? Yes.

But being intentional with outside the room is just as important with how we are intentional with inside the room for programs.

(From Justin) “Is it worth being invited to?”

That question is a tough one to hear answered… especially if the answer is “no”.

This is a question I asked our youth leads from all of our campuses as we are gearing up for what we call “1st Wednesday” which is a night that is intended for our core students to invite friends who don’t normally come to church.

Is your event, service, small group (insert whatever thing) worth being invited to? Whether or not you think this is a fair question, it is a question that most of our students are asking. The truth is, if whatever you are planning, even if it’s awesome to us, does not pass that question… our students won’t invite.

Let me tell you what this does not mean. It DOES NOT mean:

You need to have all the lights and smoke and lasers.

You need to blow out your budget.

You need to pull out all the stops for this one thing.

You need to have more than 100+ students to get energy high enough to be good.

What this question DOES force us to answer:

Is the event something my students feel comfortable to bring their friend who doesn’t come to church?

Is this something a little different than what I normally do that would give my student the confidence to make a bold ask of a friend?

Do the small groups we have make our students feel like they HAVE to invite their friends to come be a part of it because it’s like no other community they have?

If you notice, the focus is not on the friends but on what you have going on right now already in your ministry. Most of the time we try to do some sort of outreach but your students don’t invite and you get discouraged.

Why don’t they?

Because they are checking it out. They are seeing if you can provide an atmosphere that is worth being invited to. Why would they risk social equity on something they don’t feel good about inviting a friend to?
