This is a good friend of mine, Rocky LaPorte, whose daughter has a rare form of stomach cancer. Anybody who knows Rocky knows he never asks anybody for anything. And he gives to everyone around him constantly. I know his family really needs the help so if you are so compelled, your help would be so appreciated.
And feel free to share on your page. šŸ™šŸ¼šŸ¤

In May of 2023, our family received some devastating news that has turned our world upā€¦ Rocky LaPorte needs your support for Toni LaPorte's Cancer Fight

I have to tell youā€¦

I absolutely love it when friends (as well as social media friends who I havenā€™t met in person) share and post about a show that Iā€™ve been in and post pictures, etc. bragging about it. And when their friends start congratulating them, honest to God I love that so much. Because it makes you guys feel good. Whether you feel good that you know someone that was in a show or feel good that your friends are making a big deal about it and think youā€™re coolā€¦honest to God, I love it. They can throw a parade in your honor for all I careā€¦Iā€™m just grateful that youā€™re excited about it.

Itā€™s just so cool that itā€™s a big enough deal for you to want to share about it and that it makes you feel good when your friends make a big deal about it. If it makes you feel like a rock star, awesome!

Thank you to those of you for watching the shows Iā€™ve been in over the years. Most of the time I look like a giant dingus, so Iā€™m grateful that you watch (alsoā€¦I embrace my dingusness).

Got a little bedtime story for you kidsā€¦

Soooooā€¦Iā€™m on an upcoming episode of SWAT. But the story behind it is really cool.

I went out for one role months ago and I LOVED that role. It was so intense and I wanted to do that one so bad. I was about to book it and, unfortunately (long story), I had to turn it down. Iā€™ve never turned down a role in my career. My manager said to me, ā€œDonā€™t worry. They really like you. Theyā€™ll call you again.ā€

THENā€¦SWAT was canceled. Sort of a bummer but I said to myself, ā€œOh well. It wasnā€™t meant to be.ā€ I was a little bummed but made peace with it like 3 minutes after. Iā€™m just used to this crazy business.

THENā€¦Shemar Moore made a stink about it on social media. All the fans made a stink about it. And they brought SWAT back for a final season. I thought, ā€œMAYBE Iā€™ll get another shot. But Iā€™m not gonna bank on it.ā€ I sorta released it to the universe and moved on.

8 months after the first one I had to turn down, I booked a role on SWAT (this time through my agent, first time was through my manager) and it was even better than the first one. SO good. And the day we filmed was one of the most perfect days on set Iā€™ve ever had. When I drove home, I literally felt like I was floating.

You just never knowā€¦

I hope you guys get a chance to tune into my episode of SWAT on Friday, March 1st on CBS.

I play the ho**er with a heart of gold. Ha ha. Not really. I stopped doing those in my late 70ā€™s.

The show I wanted to be on more than any other show for the longest time was ā€œBarryā€. But I couldnā€™t imagine where on earth Iā€™d fit into any of their storylines. But I was obsessed with it.

And to make it even sweeter was to play opposite Anthony Carrigan, ā€œNoHo Hankā€.

Congratulations Anthony Carrigan on your well-deserved Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series! šŸ“ŗ šŸ† Sitting in a garage in the middle of the desert hearing Bill Hader tell BTS stories about SNL to you, Michael Irby, and me will remain one of the greatest thrills of my life.

Well, that and this sceneā€¦

I got the chance to interview Gary Wright in my studio about 14 years ago during my radio days. Among many fascinating things, he talked about his friendship with George Harrison and his experiences with the Beatles. What a cool guy. If I remember correctly, it was the amazing Deborah Brosseau that brought us together.

Then I asked my good friend, photographer Don Hannah, to come with me to see one of his shows shortly after and Don caught this epic shot that night.

Sweet dreams to the ultimate Dream Weaver. āœØ

Heaven is stacked with some pretty amazing people. šŸ¤

27/07/2023

I was always fascinated by Sinead Oā€™Connor and really admired how naked she was willing to be about the truth, even if it cost her something. And sadly, it seemed to cost her everything for most of her life.

She is being appreciated and recognized by a lot of the world too late now, including by me. But I am always drawn to that kind of gritty, uncomfortable, raw honesty. I try to live my life that way as best as I can. But she leaned into it like no other. Itā€™s my favorite thing about a person when I see it. But itā€™s rare.

In a very untruthful world, she was like this bright beautiful honest light through broken glass. I hope she has found peace.

The following is so beautifully written by Hanif Abdurraqib:

ā€œSinĆ©ad Oā€™Connor was ā€” among a great many other, better things ā€” a victim of societyā€™s gleeful, neverending obsession with prolonged punishment. With punishment as spectacle. She was also someone who suffered, openly, vulnerably. She was open in her songs, in her writing, in pleas made on the internet. The world is not equipped to hold a personā€™s suffering, gently or otherwise. And I find that to be an especially enraging failure. I am a broken record with this, but I truly encourage people to look within and ask yourself hard questions about your relationship with interpersonal cruelty. How you might enact it, how the enacting of it is serving that desire to see people, often strangers, punished. Structural cruelties are not only accelerating but new ones are accumulating, adapting. Multiple apocalypses are intersecting. Thatā€™s the reality of our living. Interpersonally, people have to demand more of themselves in the midst of ongoing, accumulating crisis. It doesnā€™t serve me to despair, because despair drives me to cruelty. Iā€™m not asking people to consider some broad, mindless approach to ā€œkindness.ā€ But ask yourself how you might be contributing to the quiet and loud sufferings of others, ask yourself how your sufferings can best be tended to so they donā€™t echo harmfully outward. Iā€™m sad about this one. So many of her expressions of emotional/mental anguish felt familiar to me. She was owed so many apologies that she never got. Iā€™m glad we had her for a while. So glad she shared herself with us.ā€

My heart is a little broken right now. I woke up this morning to find out that Bill Geddie suddenly passed away. Completely unexpected. Iā€™m so sad about this.

The world knows Bill as the longtime producer of the 20/20 specials and The View with Barbara Walters. When she passed away, it truly broke his heart. He shared with those of us lucky enough to be connected to him so many great never-before-seen photos from their work all over the world.

I had been a fan for so long, but we became friends/acquaintances about 5 years ago. But he became a really supportive friend and would occasionally send me messages of support. It always surprised and touched me that a TV icon like him even cared what I was up to.

He really cared about people, all kinds of people, little people like me. Iā€™m so grateful to have known him. But this is such a huge loss and way too early.

Last night was our wrap party for the film I just did and I got to spend a little time with the wonderful people from the production, including my co-star Andy McQueen (ā€œOuter Banksā€ and ā€œMrs. Davisā€). What a special group of people.

Sad that we missed Carolyn Michelle Smith (ā€œThe Chiā€) but sheā€™s enjoying a well-deserved vacay on a ship somewhere abroad.

One of my BFFā€™s (and soul sister), Brianna Ladapo, just released this book yesterday. Itā€™s recommended by Anthony Robbins and several others ANDā€¦Iā€™m super excited that my copy is arriving today.

She was pretty extraordinary when I met her 20 years ago but Iā€™m blown away by how far sheā€™s come and how she has never wavered from her purpose in life.

If you feel like you canā€™t get shake the heaviness of the past and really want to fully live how you were meant to, I think youā€™d love this book.

On a personal note, Brianna has counseled and advised me on my toughest situations and moments over the last 7 years or so, is one of the very few who knows what those things are, and has helped me out of some pretty dark spots. So I am REALLY excited to read her book. šŸ©·āœØ

This is my next show coming out. Season 6 of The Eric Andre Show premieres this Sunday. I donā€™t know what episode Iā€™m in but itā€™s the episode with rapper Lil Yachty. ON THE REAL ESTATE SIDE OF MY LIFEā€¦

Iā€™m be doing a real estate webinar tomorrow Wed, 5/31 @ 2pm (PST).

And Iā€™m giving away a really cool package of planners (goal, financial, self careā€¦really cool stuff) to the attendees. šŸŽšŸŽ‰

Donā€™t feel like you have to be in the market to do anything. For those that arenā€™t familiar with my real estate experience, I want to introduce what I do and how Iā€™ve been able to help people over the years. One of my favorite things is I love to show people how they can pay less than rent by owning. šŸ” šŸ’°

You can ask whatever questions youā€™d like. If you never think youā€™ll ever buy or sell, I love referrals! Iā€™d love to earn the opportunity to have you as one of my advocates.

SO many thoughts lately about writing, writers, writing stuff, writers creating stuffā€¦ I think you get the point. The scribbly world of scribes. Yeah, Iā€™m being a little silly there. But hereā€™s something Iā€™ve thought about many times and felt it was worth sharingā€¦

The incarnation and explosion of social media has made it so that people actually think theyā€™re significant. So significant that some now call themselves ā€œinfluencerā€. And if you think of the unlimited nature of the universe and whatā€™s really out there, it would serve us to remember who we are in the big scheme of things. Especially those who have catapulted themselves straight to the top of the human totem poleā€”politicians, execs, celebrities, ā€œinfluencersā€¦ā€

Weā€™re not just a blip in the universe. Weā€™re a speck of a speck of a speck. Looking up into the sky at night should give every one of us existential chills. I love it. It puts me in my place when my ego lets me believe Iā€™m anything grand. I donā€™t mean self esteem. My self esteem is quite intact. I know who I am more than I ever have in my life. I know my value and I know what I bring to the table. But I also know Iā€™m a speck of a speck of a speck and weā€™re here and gone in a blink. And it inspires me to keep taking chances and create and live.

Thereā€™s a whole thing going on where humans are trying to erode other humans, even erase humans altogether. Itā€™s either over power or money or both. And these jack asses actually think they matter! Do they think they can take any of that sh*t with them? Let me tell you, honeyā€¦youā€™re going bare ass naked right back into the ground. No money, no houses, no cars, no Instagram followers. Just you.

So, why the frenzy? Why the battle over things that you wonā€™t have once youā€™re six feet under. I know Iā€™m not the only one who sees this.

So, yesā€¦weā€™re barely a blip on the radar of the entire universe. Thatā€™s not bad! Thatā€™s good news! That means we can take the chances, try stuff, make mistakes, go big or go home! 200 years from now, nobody is gonna know if you farted on a first date or that your singing was so bad at karaoke that you almost got banned from entering the city limits again. Nobody is gonna know that had the nerve to show up at a black tie event with bad hair or a giant zit big enough to fit in a car seat.

Iā€™m inspired by my peers who are marching around Hollywood. And although there are many parts to our mission, the one that stands out to me most is protecting the human creative, valuing it, nurturing it. Protecting what humans were born to do: create

Itā€™s a big f**king deal.

The human spirit is powerful. It inspires me all the time. And nobody is gonna know who we were a couple hundred years from now, but thatā€™s awesome! Itā€™s total freedom! It ainā€™t that serious, so why not just go for it. Go bat s**t crazy with possibility and create. Write, create, sing, dance, paint, love big, talk to animals, stand on the top of a mountain and let the sun shine right the f*** on your face.

I will continue writing my sitcoms, my book, all of it. I have no idea where they will go. But I will write, believe in the future and my future, create, and know that I took chances and honored the human spirit in me.

This life is a one-way ticket. This is it, baby. Be happy. Live. Do you.

Itā€™s a small, small world in Hollywood. Iā€™ve had the privilege of interviewing Kate on the red carpet at least 3 or 4 times over the years. And she has always, always been one of the sweetest people Iā€™ve ever met. How cool and fortunate for me to be sharing the same agent, my sweet-n-spicy Peter Kallinteris.
