Dungeon Dex 0025: Ekans, the Snake Pokémon
Found in grassy plains and forests, this purple-scaled Pokémon uses its stealth to prey on the eggs of Pidgey and Spearow. It also hunts small Pokémon like Rattata and Nidoran, using its powerful constricting abilities to subdue them before unhinging it’s jaw and swallowing them whole. Because of this, ekans is able to eat prey much larger than its own head. However, overeating can lead to sluggishness, fatigue, and even fainting in this Pokémon. Contrary to popular belief, Ekans’ bite is not poisonous, but rather it possesses venom sacs in its inner jaw, from which it can spew a potent toxin.

Dungeon Dex 0024: Domineerow, the Alpha Pokémon
A terrifying apex predator, Domineerow rules over its Spearow subjects with an iron fist. This dark Pokémon emerges from the sinister act of co-regicide, consuming the flesh of its co-rulers to gain immense power and intellect. Despite its extreme danger to humans, Domineerow prefers distant habitats away from human contact. Domineerow’s fur is highly sought after for its water-repellent properties, making it a valuable material for clothing and equipment. Its talons and beak are also highly prized for their sharpness and durability, and can be used to craft tools and weapons of an extremely high quality.

Sparrows third evo, the alpha predator. Finally the nail in the coffin. Spearow is better than pidgey.

Dungeon Dex 0024: Fearow, the Beak Pokemon
Fearow, otherwise known as are violent and shifty bird Pokemon that use their power and precision to deftly execute their prey. They create spiked trees to lure in Spearow, which they bully into serving them. Fearow reside over these “murder” of Spearow in groups of 2 or 3, sharing the spoils and food equally. Fearow soar over their domain at incredibly high altitudes and consider anyone who enters it to be prey. They can divebomb their target with their razor-sharp beak at upwards of 250 mph.

Took me a while to complete the respec and drawing of the Spearow line. Time and time again Fearow has saved my playthroughs of pokemon so I gave this line some real love. Butcher Birds, Dark Type, and a third evolution?…

Dungeon Dex 0023: Spearow, the Tiny Bird Pokemon
Spearow is a small, brown bird Pokémon known for its aggressive nature and sharp talons. Spearow flies in flocks of up to 15 members, and they attack any prey they come across. After dispatching their prey, they tear it to pieces and store it on thorny trees for later consumption. Spearow’s razor-sharp talons and beaks make them a threat to anyone who comes too close. However, they are easily outrun due to their weak flight capabilities and lack of stamina. Their cries are so loud that they can be heard up to a mile away and can even burst an eardrum if heard up close.

Dungeon Dex 0022: Raticate, the Mouse Pokemon
Raticate teeth grow at nearly twice the rate of its pre-evolved form and it must constantly chew on things to keep them from getting too long, which can be fatal. They’re strong enough to chew through stone and concrete, and they have been known to cause structural damage to buildings and other infrastructure. Raticate are often found in urban areas, where they can find plenty of things to chew on. However, their populations must be carefully managed, as too many Raticate can quickly cause damage to property.

Dungeon Dex 0021: Rattata, the Mouse Pokemon
Rattata is a small rodent pokemon with a mottled purple coat which allows it to move amongst shadows with ease. They live in large packs and are known to attack in numbers when threatened. Their teeth grow at a rate of nearly a milimeter every day and must be filed down regularly. Rattata accomplish this by gnawing and chewing on whatever wood and sticks they come across, which can lead to serious property damage. They can even be seen sleeping with a small log in their mouth to muffle the sounds of their grinding teeth. Finally, the Pure Flying treatment Pidgeot deserves!

Dungeon Dex 0019: Pidgeotto, the Bird Pokemon
Pidgeotto claim vast territories, spanning up to 60 miles, and aggressively defend them from other bird Pokemon. Their exceptional eyesight allows them to detect their preferred prey, such as Magikarp and Exeggcute, from over a mile away. Using their powerful wings, they undertake the often lengthy journey back to their nests. Their feathers repel water, allowing them to fly during rainstorms without adverse effects. This remarkable property makes them highly sought after as one of the finer fletching material for arrows. Finally, the Pure Flying treatment Pidgeotto deserves!

Pidgey, The Tiny Bird Pokémon
Pidgey, a small and gentle bird Pokémon, is known for its curiosity rather than aggression. Though capable of defending itself with powerful gusts of wind and quick flight maneuvers, Pidgey typically approaches strangers and trainers out of inquisitiveness or a desire for food. Pidgey inhabit a wide range of environments, including temperate woodlands, plains, and coasts, where they form large congregations. They embark on multiple migrations throughout the year, aligning with the hatching cycles of various bug Pokémon. Despite their travels, Pidgey possess an uncanny ability to navigate back to their original nests, demonstrating remarkable navigational skills. Finally, the Pure Flying treatment Pidgey deserves!

Dungeon Dex 0017
Lurkuna, The Imaginal Ooze Pokémon
Lurkuna, known for their skittish nature, are easily frightened by almost anything that comes their way. They tend to stay within the communities where they evolve, relying on the protection offered by Beedrill. Their diet primarily consists of what the Beedrill bring back to the hive. Interestingly, Beedrill seem to accept Lurkuna as part of their evolutionary line. However, during periods of extreme food scarcity or severe hunger, the tables can turn, and the Beedrill may resort to consuming Lurkuna for sustenance.

Dungeon Dex 0016
Beedrill, The Poison Bee Pokémon
Beedrill, a bi-pedal Bug Pokémon, exhibits remarkable aerial agility and possesses three highly venomous stingers. In defense of their territory, they swarm intruders in large numbers and at high speeds, utilizing their potent toxins to paralyze and incapacitate their opponents. Beedrill then transport the subdued prey back to their colony, where it is broken down and distributed as sustenance amongst the Weedle and Kakuna. The venom stored in their abdomens is exceptionally toxic and can be used for various poisons if extracted properly.

Dungeon Dex 0015
Kakuna, The Cocoon Pokémon
During this period of their lives, Kakuna remain virtually motionless. They continue to be a part of the community in which they were hatched, now benefiting from protection on all sides. While they do not consume food during this stage and are nearly sessile, they are protected by Beedrill, who serve as guardians against external and internal threats, including stray Lurkuna. While Kakuna may appear similar to the hardened case of a Metapod, they possess two articulated scythe-like arms that are typically folded in front of their bodies. In response to being pressured or endangered, they can extend these arms and inflict a potent poison upon their aggressors.

Dungeon Dex 0014
Weedle, The Hairy Bug Pokémon
Weedle is a voracious herbivore whose consumption of foliage during a single feeding can equal its own body weight. Its exceptionally keen sense of smell guides it towards its preferred leaves and plants on the forest floor. The stingers present on its head and tail produce a potent toxin capable of debilitating even larger creatures. Despite its brightly colored body serving as a warning to potential predators, Weedle generally prefers to conceal itself beneath the leaves and plants lining forest paths.

Dungeon Dex 0013
Shatterpod, The Amorphous Pokémon
Shatterpod are brutally aggressive Pokemon. They have an deep-seeded hatred for Weedle and it’s evolutionary line and will attack them as they cross their paths without warning. Though they seem to relish in hunting this Pokemon, they do not eat them. Instead, their diet entirly consists of cannabalizing its own evolutionary line. It prefers to consume the Butterfree as they emerge from their cacccoons in their final form, striking as they attempt to inflate their wings for flight.

This is the first of many alterations to the DungeonDex. Stay tuned things will get WACKY-

Dungeon Dex 0012
Butterfree , The Butterfly Pokémon

Butterfree floats around the trees and flowers of temperate forests and jungles alike. Their wings are lined with miniscule, poisonous scales that come off when it flaps them. Using these poisons, Butterfree protects itself and its evolutionary line from The bird Pokemon that would feed on them. Their compund eyes are actually compsed of hundreds of tiny individual corneas, protected by many angled lenses. This creates vision so perfect that they are able to discern color in complete darkness.

Dungeon Dex 0011
Caterpie, The Cocoon Pokémon

Metapod prepares for its final evolution by remaining almost entirely motionless inside of its hardened caoon, only moving to align with leaves around it for the occasional bite. They further harden their cacoons from the inside in the face of danger and if pressured will continue to do so until it is as hard as steel. The only opening in the shell are the two holes near the top from which metapod can see.

Dungeon Dex 0010
Caterpie, The Worm Pokémon

Caterpie is capable of consuming up to 5 times its body weight in leaves and foliage a day, which it uses as fuel for it’s growth and material for it’s incredibly sticky web. It uses the suction cups on the bottom of its feet to maneuver along thinner branches where it can access the newest growth. Its antenae rattles when it gets frightened, releasing a foul smelling oder. Touching the rattling apendage causes a transfer that not even a wash will remove for several days. This was a fun one to study. A lot of these behaviors are true of the actual larva caterpie is based on. Most notably the inflatable horns that make a bad smell. I feel like the folks at Nintendo could have capitalized on this one far better!

Dungeon Dex 0009
Blastoise, The Shellfish Pokémon
~evolved form of Wartortle and the final evolution of Squirtle~

Blastoise is capable of using the two high-powered hydro cannons on it’s back with enough finesse to hit a bullseye at 160 feet and with enough force to pierce through concrete. Their internal systems have developed into a natural hydraulic pressurized system, which Blastoise can use to make itself heavier in order to withstand the sheer force at which its cannons fire. Blastoise are able to shoot through the water at breakneck speeds by retreating into their shells and firing their cannons with constant intense pressure. Though using their forward facing cannons as propulsion causes them to move in reverse.
