Swiss autonomous navigation leader BlueBotics has launched ANT everywhere, a new product extension for its industry-proven ANT navigation products that widen the scope of AGV and AMR operations by enabling effective outdoor operations.

Outdoor use has traditionally been a challenge for producers of automated vehicles. This is because there are typically few permanent ‘features’ visible outdoors, which are required for modern mobile robots to calculate their exact position.

Up to now, vehicle producers have addressed this challenge either by using ad-hoc navigation add-ons, such as patching a GPS system on top of an existing navigation product or by adding additional outdoor infrastructure, such as custom poles featuring reflectors.

WDS Components, the UK manufacturer and supplier of standard parts and components, has extended its range of clevis brackets and fork kits for use with actuators.WDS’ new clevis fork brackets enable ISO 6432 actuators to connect and drive a host of machinery or devices. Conventional surgical robots include large columns with multiple arms holding tiny cameras and various instruments such as scissors, graspers, needle holders, clip applicators and more. For the greatest flexibility in performing procedures, surgeons want the freedom to manipulate these instruments at their chosen angle, without constraint.

Often, surgeons prefer to make incisions that are as small and as few as practical to minimize patient discomfort and improve outcomes. For many cases, the ideal procedure would be performed through a single, small incision that can simultaneously accommodate visualization cameras and all needed instruments.

This ideal can be difficult or impossible to achieve, as the conventional robot design doesn’t allow for instruments to approach the site at an acute enough angle.

Recently, the Pre-Conditioned Air (PCA) vehicle equipped with a FPT Cursor 9 engine successfully passed testing and was delivered to Shanghai Pudong International Airport, in support of the airport's safety infrastructure and ensuring efficient operations.
As one of the essential support vehicles for airports, the Pre-Conditioned Air (PCA) vehicle is mainly responsible for ventilating and cooling down the electronic equipment compartment and cockpit of the aircraft when the aircraft engines are not running. When NSK solved an overheating issue involving the bearings on a dust extraction fan at an ore preparation plant, it led to annual cost savings of €88,955. These ongoing savings emanate from the elimination of compressed air – previously required for cooling – thanks to NSK’s correctly specified bearing and lubrication solution.Dust extraction fans are necessary at ore preparation plants to help remove the high level of airborne particulates that occur from processes such as crushing, sorting, grinding, screening, decanting, filtering and drying. At this particular facility, the running temperature of bearings on its extraction fans was proving unacceptably high. To help counter the situation and prolong bearing life, the plant was using compressed air for cooling purposes - at considerable cost.
