Quality - One cannot substitute economy for quality because they are synonymous

Quality: Quality is not only a matter of good, but also one of long life. One cannot substitute economy for quality because they are synonymous. If you always pay a bit more than you can afford you will be better off in the long run.”

"If we lack adequate artist-craftsmen, then it would be better to close up half the schools that are training architects and employ the expenditures for the training of the only men who can give life to the architect's design."
Committee on Education Report, AIA 1912 Convention.

"The supply of good architecture is largely dependent upon the demand for it; the taste of an intelligent public is an important factor in the arts in our modern democratic society, for it is from this that the ranks of architects are recruited, and it is for it that they work.
