🎤 Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

Shelly: Sure! I'm a proud mother of five, and I have three beautiful grandchildren. I’ve been driving with a CDL for almost 20 years now. I’ve also served as a wildland firefighter for eight years, driven tankers and lowboy tankers for two years, and spent ten years driving city buses for UTA. For the last eight years, I’ve been driving water trucks and fire engines. Currently, I’m an OTR (Over-The-Road) driver, and I’ve been doing that for the past 2 ½ years. I absolutely love being able to travel across the United States and see all the beautiful places this country has to offer.
🎤How did you get started in the trucking industry?

Shelly: My father was a truck driver, so I guess you could say it's in my blood. Back in 2004, I had this strong desire to drive snow plows in Cache Valley. That’s when I really started getting serious about driving, and the rest is history.

🎤 How long did it take to become a truck driver?

Shelly: I enrolled in Promax Driving School, which offers a five-week course. It was intense, but by the end of it, I was ready to hit the road.

During Brake Safety Week, CVSA-certified inspectors will conduct routine inspections throughout the week, but with a heightened focus on brake systems and components. Trucks found to have brake-related out-of-service violations will be removed from roadways until those violations are corrected.

Each year, International Roadcheck places special emphasis on a category of violations. This year, there are 2 focus areas:
