In February, The Were-Traveler will publish the "Women Destroy [Retro] SciFi!!!" issue commemorating women writers in speculative fiction. February 1991 was when the James Tiptree, Jr. Award (now known as the Otherwise Award) was first announced at WisCon. James Tiptree, Jr. was the pen name of Alice Sheldon, one of the best authors from sci-fi's "retro" period. This is one of my favorite stories, and spawned the idea for this issue.

NOW ACCEPTING SUBMISSIONS
My Job is a Hellhole! Working for demons, imps, devils, and other minions of hell. You boss is a denizen of the underworld, but the story can take place in any setting. Any setting means: hell, another planet, Modern Earth, Future Earth. Heaven? Sure why not? Maybe there's an employee exchange program between heaven and hell.

I'm looking for fantasy, dark fantasy, horror, humor (oh HELL YES) and science fiction if you can come up with a science fiction-y hellscape.

Flash/shorts (750-1500 words. No MORE than 1500 words, no LESS than 750 words for flash, no more than 2500 words for shorts) for $10 per piece original, previously unpublished flash, shorts $15). Microfics (350-749 words) will pay at a $5 per story rate for original, previously unpublished stories.
Will consider publishing a couple of drabbles for this, at $1 per drabble.

Reprints accepted for this one, $10 for shorts, $5 for flash, $3 for micro. No drabble reprints.
No poetry for this one.

Submissions accepted from Dec 4, 2020 til March 31, 2021.

Women Destroy [Retro] Science Fiction
Women authors only (Trans women authors accepted because trans women are women).

Retro Science Fiction. What is retro sci fi? It's also known as retro-futurism, and described as "the future that never was." Something like the science fiction stories of the 40s and 50s.

I want you to imagine me a future of women characters that shine and live in a world (that they created or helped to create) filled with impossible wonders.

Flash and short stories only.

Flash are (750 to 1500 words). $10 on publication.

Short stories are (1501 to 2500 words (no more). $15 on publication.

Reprints will be accepted on this one, just let me know where it was previously published.

Deadline is November 30th at 11:59 pm.

"This is an issue of timeliness. All that has been going on in our world, all the hate that we still have to deal with, and witness...the overbearing struggle of the human family who have different levels of melatonin in their skin than others…the absurdity of it all.

Due to not having enough submissions and not having enough time to post calls for subs on social media, I'm setting deadlines back for Mythos Planet issue of The Were-Traveler. I simply have to factor in some time to post calls for subs on the various fiction pages I belong to on Facebook. Who doesn't want to write about Mythos/Cthulhu??
