Allbirds, a six-year-old manufacturer of all natural materials sneakers, is collaborating with Adidas to design a performance sports shoe with what the companies are calling the “world’s lowest carbon footprint.” The new shoe would have a carbon-footprint of just 2kg compared to the average 12.5 kg of other sneakers on the market, they said. Albirds said its goal is redesigning the sneaker from the ground up while Adidas’s goal is to sustainably manufacture at scale. They hope to release a shoe in the next year.
