It's the last day of 2019 - New Year's Eve, a day of celebration for endings, and new beginnings... for us here, at WCHQ 100.9 FM, Today, is the ending of an era. As we had announced at the beginning of November, Today is our final broadcast day; as the New Year is being rung in around the U.S., at midnight tonight, WCHQ will go silent, ceasing operations after 9-1/2 years of bringing the sounds of Kyana's local & regional music scenes to the FM airways.
We wish to thank everyone who got behind our mission, and became loyal listeners... a huge Thank You to our entire volunteer staff, who gave generously of their time and talents, just simply for the love of local music & arts, and to the local artists, who contributed recordings to our local music database, exceeding over 4,500 artists, which will remain preserved for prosperity. This station came to be, and is dedicated to the local musicians, the singers, and the songwriters who shape our arts scene here in Ky, and it's because of them, that we survived as long as we did - you guys & gals MADE this station happen.
Before we leave the airways, Tonight, our entire staff - past & present - are returning for a final send-off, with our "New Years Eve Countdown to 2020 Oblivion"... from 9pm til Midnight tonight, as you head out for your NYE festivities, take WCHQ with you, and listen in, as we celebrate together, with a playlist comprised of our FAV local songs released in 2019, along with memories, laughs and more...
In closing, its been a wonderful nine years... a nine years that none of us here at WCHQ will surely forget, and we hope YOU won't forget about us either. Happy New Year to you all, and best wishes for the future...
