This campaign was set up by Elizabeth Cotton, and Phee Jung Sun in response to Somyot Pruksakasemsuk ’s arrest on 30 April 2011.
We are supported by a team of activists who know Somyot and we are in regular contact with him while he is in prison. This page is created to campaign for the freedom of magazine editor, labour activist, and human rights defenders Somyot Prueksakasemsuk. on since 30 April 2011, separated from his wife and family, even though as a peaceful activist he poses no real threat to anyone. Yet, the Thai court continues to deny him his constitutional right to bail. He faces up to 30 years in prison under Article 112 of the Criminal Code/Lese Majeste Law. His detention is arbitrary and his prosecution violates his right to freedom of expression protected by both the Constitution and international law.
