Interesting, worth a closer look

We are very happy to have added a new flagship camera this week that will bring our work to an even higher level - The Panasonic AU-EVA1. Referred to by Studio Daily as "A well thought out professional camera, the same level of technology, or nearly all of it, as the VariCam 35 and LT" and recommmended by Newsshooter, who found the EVA1 "a real pleasure to use. The image and colours the camera produces are beautiful."

The EVA1 uses an all-new 5.7K Super 35mm sensor that downsamples to 4K, UHD, 2K and even 720p, and has 14 stops of Dynamic Range (the Varicam LT has 14.5).

We recently released new software upgrades for the VariCam LT, VariCam 35, and VariCam HS.

For the VariCam LT, we’ve made the following improvements and fixes with firmware V5.5.2:
• Now compatible with a Canon CN 18-80mm lens
• Fixed the issue when in 2K/HD CROP mode, there was a level difference between the upper and lower parts of the screen at certain frame rates
• Improved the stability at boot-up
• Fixed the issue where repaired 2K ProRes clips couldn’t be played on QuickTime Player
• Expanded the UDP packets and made it possible to pass a recorded clip’s name and other information to an external application over WiFi
• A warning is displayed if you insert a card with a corrupt clip
• 4K-LT codec bit rate fix
• Sigma Cinema lens protocol bug fix
• Added a USB modem (U620L) that is compatible with 4G and LTE USB

For the VariCam 35 and VariCam HS, we’ve made the following changes and fixes with firmware V7.5.1:
• Fixed the issue where repaired 2K ProRes clips couldn’t be played on QuickTime Player.
• Expanded the UDP packets and made it possible to pass a recorded clip’s name and other information to an external application over WiFi
• A warning is displayed if you insert a card with a corrupt clip
• Improved the stability at boot-up
• Corrected the issue where the edge of characters flicker (Please do the update and then perform ABB)
