[Media Release] Sesame Street Muppets Celebrate Chinese New Year with Friends from CCTV Children’s Channel

- Sesame Workshop and CCTV Collaborate on Special for China; Shot in Singapore -

February 1, 2016, Shanghai and New York – CCTV Children’s Channel and Sesame Workshop China are collaborating again on a Chinese New Year special program—this time for 2016, the Year of Monkey. Sesame Street’s Big Bird, Elmo and Cookie Monster invited Children’s Channel hosts Ju Ping, Xiao Lu, Huang Wei, Du Yue and Jin Dou to celebrate and enjoy the Spring Festival festivities together in Singapore. The five segments are part of CCTV’s one-hour special Let’s Celebrate Chinese New Year, which will begin airing on February 3 at 6:00pm (with rebroadcasts throughout the month).

The two organizations will also launch a joint promotional campaign on social media platforms before and during the broadcasts.

Local production was organized by MyChinaChannel Pte. Ltd, which will also syndicate a special version of the program on various broadcasters across the Southeast Asia region. The segments were shot at Universal Studios Singapore, which houses Sesame Street attractions and experiences. Other landmark attractions featured in the segments include Gardens By the Bay, Singapore Zoo, Jurong Bird Park and China Town. This shoot was also supported by Singapore Tourism Board.

This is the third year that Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit educational organization behind Sesame Street, has co-produced with CCTV Children’s Channel for its Chinese New Year special. Past topics have included special traditions and customs, legendary stories, the lion dance and the Lantern Festival.

- MyChinaChannel Joins China Free Trade Zone Media Association as Founding Member -

Initiated by the Oriental Financial Pudong Channel (东方财经· 浦东频道), the China Free Trade Zone Media Association (中国自贸区媒体联盟) was officially formed on 7th Dec 2015 in Pudong, Shanghai.

More than 16 other media representatives from Shanghai, Guangdong, Tianjin, Fujian and around the region such as Hong Kong, Australia, Taiwan and Korea also attend the founding ceremony.

Mr. Patrick Yong, CEO, MyChinaChannel said, “We are honored to be invited to this ceremony and to join as a founding member of the Association. We do not see ourselves as just a media partner but more importantly, we are here to work together and help push and develop China FTA” Mr. Yong believes that the formation of the Association will enhance and deepen the bi-lateral ties between Singapore and China and therefore, boosting the economy and trade activities between the two countries.

MCC & StarHub have signed the deal for the launch of MaxToon on StarHub at AsiaTV Forum! The new edutainment Mandarin Kids’ channel, MaxToon will be available in Singapore by first half of 2016!

MCC will be partnering with China Business Network (CBN) to co-develop two brand new infotainment/documentary series as well as 100 hours of financial business content in English.

“It is our vision to work with Chinese media companies to bring quality content outside China and we are excited to bring our working relationship with CBN to the next level. Chinese entertainment content is gaining popularity around the world and we see great potential for Chinese infotainment/documentary content to also ride on the China waves. We believe with the expertise and resources of CBN, we will be able to bring Chinese business information and content to the world,” said Mr. Patrick Yong, CEO, MCC.
