Our highlight of Porsche's recent reveal of many previously unseen design studies was this 906 Living Legend. Retro-inspired design can sometimes go horribly wrong, but that's not the case with this mid-2000's concept. You do get the same sense of an ultra low seating position with the driver peering through (not over) the wheel arches - as per original 906 - but the 'floating' engine cover that bleeds over the sides and the curvaceous rear boldly punctuated by vertical fins that house the tail-lights is boss-level creative.

Few car makers have experimented with overtly retro designs with as much playful gusto as Nissan did in the late 1980s and early '90s. From Be-1 through Pao and S-Cargo to Figaro, each model prompts an emotional response. We'll happily forget the Tiida, but we're not likely to ever forget any of these.
