Downtown Struts "Victoria" LP/CD - Pirates Press Records

The Downtown Struts, hailing from Chicago bring energetic, melodic singalong tunes. I'm generally quite opposed to anything that is connected to v-neck shirts and beards, and I'm almost certain at least one of these guys has a bike with only one gear but despite the hipster look and feel, these kids can play, the vocals are very hooky and stick with me, I missed the live show with the Business last time through, but will not miss the next one. This record is far better than the first release. which I liked as well, it seems like they are finding their groove and have polished the sound some, the songs are composed well and have a tight flow, at times the vocals remind me of Jack from One Man Army. Look for Downtown Struts on tour in Europe with The Sydney Ducks this summer. - Cheeseburger

Let It Burn "The Promise and the Pledge CD EP

San Francisco hardcore - this 5 song ep has blistering hardcore all over it. and not that cookie monster hardcore - more in the lines of The Nerve Agents! and for me thats just fine. In the right venue with a decent crowd, and when I say decent crowd , I'm not talking about the cool guy hip slick motherf**kers standing around with their cocktails checking out the other dudes that made it to the show! - I'm talking about Adrian Chavez aka "brown Pride" puttin it all out there. there will be blood. and hair and vomit. excellent firt efforts from Let It Burn. Self released - so to pick it up, go to the show.

Whiskey Rebels - These inside jokes are killing me LP, Released on Oi! the Boat Records This is a great release from an awesome band, B sides and live versions from these Sacto streetpunk vets. Nice packaging, comes with liner notes on all the songs and a digital download for all you tech-y kooks. Get this at all costs you won't be disappointed. - Cheeseburger.
