Last day in Bol.

Today it is with emotion that we have all had to say goodbye as it was the last day of the last mobility in the framework of our Erasmus + project "Be a Buddy Not a Bully".

Thank you to all the people involved in this project: students, accompanying teachers, headmasters and coordinators. Thank you for all the effort put in rising to the challenges of this project.

Goodbye friends! Of course the project is not over and we will keep working together but I will miss our cultural exchanges and the joyfulness of our meetings.

We keep in touch ♥️

4th day in Bol.
Today was a busy working day because we watched a video by Susan M Swearer on bullying. We then worked on the plan of our anti-bullying campaign. Our Italian friends read some inspiring poems that they had written about bullying and showed us a video on bullying at work. We also enjoyed a nice video of our stay in Nicosia. The Belgian partners explained the anti-bullying workshops they had tested in October and debunked some Belgian stereotypes (or not). Our Spanish partners presented an astounding performance using dramatisation and singing.

• 1. Erasmus project
Erasmus project is an organism that involves different countries with a common goal. Our goal is to prevent and stop bullying trough videos, activities and more. Belgium, Italy, Croatia and Spain joined together and participated in this project.
2. Difficulties we had to face :
The first difficulty was that we had to do all the activities online. It was confusing and annoying, especially because we couldn’t travel for two years. We really wanted to take actions in the project but the covid affected our school life a lot so we had to manage between homework and the project. It was very difficult because we had a lot of expectation from the Erasmus but we had to cancel a lot of things.
3. What about Belgium :
Our partners arrived on Monday.
On Tuesday morning, we started by presenting Belgium.
Then, we formed different teams mixing people of every country, for the purpose of creating videos later.
After that, we did smaller teams, and per team try to win some tokens, and win a price at the end. We participated in icebreaking activities and, in the afternoon, we went to liege, we had a guided visit of the city, and we did a photo rally by teams for win some tokens.

On Wednesday morning, we started by a presentation of what we did in October in our school, what the others did in their own country to fight school bullying/ We also talked about culture, geography of countries and prejudices.
After that, we had 3 games in the school to win more tokens, and then we rehearsed for the videos.
In the afternoon we shot the videos by teams, in these we had to reproduce a bullying situation with some bystanders, teacher, bully and a victim.
We left at 8:30 to go to Brussels. By bus, we talked a lot and we made new friends. At 10am we arrived in Brussels and toured the city accompanied by a gentleman who showed us every important point in the city. Then we had free time to eat and take a ride. At 2am we started to go to Parliament and it was wonderful! For many it was the first experience and being there was really exciting. We went to a meeting room where a woman explained the various functions of Parliament. Afterward, we went to the real parliamentary room with the several translator and others. We had to go to the Atomnium but unfortunately, due to various problems, we couldn't, so we went back to Seraing. We arrived at school at 6, they rewarded us for the project and the FFF team received their prize. They even awarded us certificates! We greeted our Croatian friends with a small catering party. After the party we went home!
4. What are we are going to do in the other countries
We are going to continue the project in the other countries.

• In Italy, we will finish the videos, by making them with video editer.
Making the videos great !
• In Croatia, we will think and choose how we are going to share the videos.
What’s our strategy !

5. Explain why you choose to take part in this project.

I have participated in this project because:

• I wanted to travel, meet new people, live new experiences.
• I wanted to learn a lot about bullying, to help people and participate in everything I can, and have a great time.
• And to be with my friends having fun and having an unforgettable memory.

Erasmus + is an exchange program between schools funded by Europe.
Our project is named «Be a buddy not a bully». It is organized by 4 countries (Belgium, Italy, Croatia, Spain) and our common objective is to fight bullying by creating a video campaign.
Even if we had problems because of Covid 19, we did a lot of online activities, for example celebrating Europe day or making the storyboard for the videos.
During the mobility in Belgium, we filmed the videos; in Italy we will make the final videos and finally in Croatia we will complete the campaign.
We chose to take part in this project to do something against bullying and discover other countries and cultures by visiting and living in the local families.

We are part of the “Be a buddy not a bully” project. It is a group of four countries, namely: Belgium, Spain, Italy and Croatia. Our goal is to fight school bullying and prevent cyberbullying. It is also an exchange student project to discover new cultures, learn another language… We all have a partner who comes from a foreign country and we will go to their country for a week.

Covid has, of course, impacted our project. In fact, some students could go to Spain (in February 2020) and then we heard about the pandemic. All the other travels had been cancelled but we held on for our partners and the project. We started to meet online and we continued to fight bullying as we wanted to.

Our European partners finally came to Belgium (in April 2022) and we did a lot of activities. We visited Liège and Bruxelles (like “the Perron”, the European parliament, “the Grand Place” etc.) We filmed prevention videos to fight bullying, some games in teams and the subject were our knowledge about bullying and Belgium.

We took part in the project because it was dear to our hearts. We wanted to do something to make things change. We also thought that it was a good idea to improve our English and to meet new people, motivated by the same ideas.

Be a buddy not a Bully is an Erasmus project between four countries: Italy, Spain, Belgium and Croatia. Our objective is to prevent bullying with different activities for parents, teachers and students.

Because of Covid we couldn’t organise the mobilities and see each other for two years but it didn’t stop us. We did online meeting and activities by Zoom.

During our stay in Belgium, we visited Liège and Brussels, famous places like The European Parliament and activities. We filmed videos against bullying to create a campaign and show it to the first-grade students next year.

By going to different countries, we fight bullying in an international way more than in a local way. In Belgium we filmed the videos and in Italy we will make them.
We’ll think about how to show them to the first-grade and how to organise the campaign in Croatia.

The main reasons to take part in this project were to fight bullying and travel to discover new cultures.

An Erasmus + is a projet that involves different countries. During the projet financed by the UE, students have to exchange with other ones in a different country for a week or more. They learn the culture, the language and they also get new experiences.
In our project there are : Belgian, Crotian, Spanish and Italian students.
The common objective is to fight bullying and help people to recognize it.
During the pandemic we had to find some way to communicate without seeing each other. It was a bit difficult but finally with the help of technology we found a way to meet online. We had to postpone our trip several times but at the end we made it!
In Belgium we organised some activities (visiting cities, games, ...) to meet the others but we also filmed videos to raise awareness of people who don’t know a lot about the topic.
In the other countries we will continue fighting against bullying and finish the project. We have to finish the videos and to run a campaign to explain in each country what we have done.
We got involved in this Erasmus because the subject is really important for us. We know people who were bullied at school and we want to stop it to change everybody’s mind.

Article written by Paul El-Osta, Joan Aouni, Camille Noel, Pablo Romero Castillo, Aldo Rayen Virga, Francesco Seminara, Alberto Salvatore Montesano:

An Erasmus + project is financed by the European Union and it involves students from different countries. In this case, we are Belgian, Croatian, Spanish and Italian. At one time or another, we all go to one country. We all have a partner and we go to his place and he or she comes to ours. Our common objective is to fight bullying in school environment with videos and raise people’s awareness.

We had to face two main problems. First, we had to cancel the Belgian mobility twice because of covid and it was difficult and discouraging but we held on. Secondly, the language barrier was also problematic at some moments.

In Belgium, we planned and shot the videos which we are going to broadcast in schools of our respective countries.

In Italy, we’ll edit the videos and in Croatia, we’ll finish the campaign.

We chose to take part in the project because we wanted to solve the bullying problem, meet people from different cultures and learn or improve languages.
