Last weekend was another protest in London against the
Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill. While many points of this bill aim to bring more justice to the criminal justice system, there is an aspect that is ironically causing protests: putting conditions of the people’s right to protest. This would mean that the police would have a broader use of powers and a more subjective say in protests, marches and demonstrations. Perhaps the fine print that is causing the most backlash is the police’s ability to deem whether or not a protest is too loud, causing “intimidation or unease”. But…isn’t that the point of a protest?
The bill also increases police stop and search powers and trespassing laws, which many believe will be largely affect already marginalized people groups, including traveller people.
So what’s being done about it? While the bill still has many stages to pass through, protests have been breaking out around the UK to fight to make amendments to this possible new law. What are you thoughts on the Police, Crime, Sentencing and courts Bill?

Today our artist feature is London-based alt-rock band, ! They dropped their first single, “The Void Between Us”, and corresponding merch from their upcoming EP out 10 June.
Q: What does “The Void Between Us” mean to you?
A: To us it has to do with the process of change. Starting out viewing something one way and then with the process of growth, having a wider perspective of that same thing. In this case that thing being the distance between you and God, or between you and perfection.

Q: What was your process of writing and deciding which songs would make up the EP?
A: Funny enough the process of writing took place in instalments over a long period of time. Several years actually. We had finished some of the demos of these songs years ago, and others we wrote during lockdown. Through the process of picking songs that we thought sounded good together sonically in order, we found a thread of concept that connected them as well. From a void to relief. Which took place through our period of growth over the years.
Tidal will release one more single along with another merch drop, and then release the whole EP on 10 June which will unlock the entire merch store. Listen to “The Void Between Us” on your fave streaming platform today!

Meet writer Kim Yudelowitz. Earlier this year she released “Dissect My Fragile Brain”, a book of poems on grief, love and loss, written as she processed through the passing of her father.
Q:Your poems are centred around grief. What was the most valuable thing you learnt whilst processing grief through writing?
A: The most valuable thing I’ve learnt is that it’s very ok and normal to feel sad especially when you’re grieving. Your emotions are valid and you shouldn’t fight any emotion whether it’s happy or sad.

Q: Why did you decide to produce your work in a book format?
A: I never actually set out to have a book published but the opportunity arose through an amazing publisher called Nic Outterside, and writing poems and putting them on Instagram has always been about reaching people who have been through similar situations and hoping they find some respite in my words.
