Summer mornings as a kid, I’d go outside to play, not knowing who was gonna be there or what we’d do: running bases, hide ‘n’ seekin’, bombardment (dodgeball), frozen flashlight tag, or daredevil bike jumps – recreating Evel Knievel on a much smaller scale.
My favorite adventures were in the acres across McAree Road from the airport. “The Field” was a never-ending source for exploring nature, dirt trails, and freedom, not to mention we knew where the older kids stashed their p**n. Sometimes there were tears or occasional fights, but we always had each others’ backs. It was life in a microcosm: We saw the world in a grain of sand -- or a field, as the case may be.
Each morning, even though I didn’t necessarily know who would be there or what we’d do, I knew *someone* would be there and we’d do *something* fun, interesting, and/or meaningful, maybe even amazing!
That’s how the “field” of social media is for me now. Thanks, friends!
