This Black History Month (and, really, every other month) it's important that I recognize that I have not had enough Black and brown voices on my Big Bones, Thick Skin Podcast.
While I value and cherish all of my guests so far, it is not enough and I need to do better.
If you or anyone you know feel you have stories of being a marginalized artist in the entertainment industry, and feel comfortable sharing them, I would be so grateful. I'm so grateful to work with these beautiful people in any way I can.

Claire Alpern Meidroth became part of the ETD family in 2018 when she joined the cast of "Over the Moon", one of two full length pieces featured in DocFest2018. Since then, she has devoted countless hours to the organization in a number of ways, from program coordination to casting.

In 2021 she launched the podcast Big Bones, Thick Skin Podcast, a show for and about marginalized actors where she shares personal experiences and makes space for others to share theirs as well. Thank you, Claire, for telling stories and lifting the stories of others.

It's been a rough few weeks over here in my world. Fortunately I could find some joy in working on this episode recorded last year. Emma Meyer is a plus-sized model, actor, and photographer- and now, a friend. I learned so much from this conversation - about the nuances of plus-sized modeling, about the modeling hierarchy and where BIPOC and plus-sized models fit within it, and about my own internal struggles when seeing a body like mine on screen.
Big thanks to the delightful Emma Meyer taking this journey with me.
