The contemporary youth wants to imitate the role models they watched on televisions, social media, and read about on magazine pages. These role models are either promoting the latest fashion styles or haircuts or sexual and sensual lifestyles that has led to social demoralization and negative vices, the society is grappling with today.

Apostle Paul in todayβs passage urges the Ephesians church that rather than follow the worldly examples, the church should follow Godβs example, ββ¦as dearly loved children...β To follow Godβs example which Christ exemplified, by giving Himself up for us, the church must do away with every form of immorality and unrighteous lifestyle; as such, Paul charges the church, that no immoral person has any inheritance in the kingdom of God.

Christians today must think of imitating Christ more than imitating celebrities and movie stars. They will offer you nothing but a sense of sexual immorality and indulgences that will lead to eternal damnation. To imitate Christ is to be ready to offer ourselves for the works of Christ, to live righteously and sacrificially like Christ (to gain eternal life). Let no one deceive you with empty words. Do not be partners with them in damnation. Gaze only at the things of the Spirit so you will not be damned but rather, you gain eternal life.

Insight: The course of your life will be determined by who you imitate.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, fill me with the Grace to imitate you in all ways and manners.
