When I came across the news this morning about Akira Toriyama passing away, it came as a shock.

I felt saddened by this news and I was surprised at my own reaction. I normally don't have such feelings for a public figure passing away, but I guess this time the connection was a little too deep to even ignore.

To say that DBZ was a critical part of my childhood is an understatement. So much of how I think about life, can be traced to different memories I've created because of the Dragon Ball series or because of where it led me.

I owe a humongous debt of gratitude to Akira Toriyama.

I know I'd be less of a person I'm today if not for Dragon Ball opening so many doors for me, to different worlds.

This is a post trying to share some of the memories that started flowing.

I never delete chats. I try to save them, and back them up no matter what even if I don't go back to them.

But sometimes, I do. And going back through your old messages is such a revelatory experience. There are so many forgotten things that come up, and you feel a rush of mixed emotions just looking at past chats.

This happened to me a few weeks ago and I've been thinking about the deep history that WhatsApp stores of our lives.

If you have ever asked for manga recommendations, you know I've always suggested this.

It has been a while, but I finally got around to sharing some thoughts about this manga, which is one of my all time favourites.

I'm trying to write more about the manga which has had subtle effects on me, which I enjoyed reading and those that I keep revisiting. This is the 2nd attempt at that. Hopefully, there are more to come.

If you've read this manga, what do you think?

Okay, this will be the last one on the recent . I just couldn't get the time to write and share this earlier.

The volleyball team's story to me is always magical.

I admire them. They've always been inspiring. And, knowing what happened in the finals is a beautiful story.

I am envious of those who saw this live.

Very happy for the team and the alumni players too who got to return on their home turf again. Kudos !

Hi,

I'm back with another edition of the Listening Chronicles !

I know it has been a while, but these suggestions should keep you occupied for a while.

A few highlights - have started their latest Season.

This podcast is one of my favourites from India. They've released a few episodes this season, and I liked listening to all of them. They are funny, poignant and intimate stories. Check it out for sure.

The other highlight is from the Longform Podcast. I recently finished listening to Serial Season 1, and one of the editors and people who keep coming up in the credits at the end of each episode is Julie Snyder. She's one of the eminent behind the scenes person for This American Life and Serial. Max Linsky interviews Julie Snyder about being an editor in the podcasting space for 2 decades and how she does it. It's a really nice episode.

As always, there are a lot more recommendations and they vary from genre. Give it a read ! Let me know what you are listening to, and if you liked it, don't forget to share !

In law school, I was often faced with the pressure and burden of making decisions and figuring out my 'path' very quickly. If I didn't make choices fast, it seemed as though I would 'fail'.
One of the reasons why I was able to navigate through law school was because of the podcast - 99% Invisible. It helped me slow down, explore, made me take a step back and taught me to be more aware about my surroundings and understand where I truly am.

I wrote about the podcast and my experience listening to it. Do give it a read and let me know what you thought !

A new podcast episode is out!

This episode is a conversation about constitutional values. Tejas Rao teaches a course about the constitution, to the school students at his alma mater. In this episode, he talks about the design of this course, and how he's approaching distilling these values to the younger generation.

It's a lot of fun, with some interesting stories. Do give it a listen!

Hello !

I'm back with the 7th edition of the Listening Chronicles ! As you'll remember, this is an attempt at documenting my favourite episodes of the week and stuff I would recommend others.

https://curiousect.com/listening-chronicles-7/

This week, I write about why you must listen to City of Women, a podcast about how women have reclaimed spaces for themselves in the city of Bangalore. The On Being Project's podcast Poetry Unbound is back with Season 2 ! The first episode is brilliant. One of my favourite podcasts Anthropocene Reviewed is coming to an end, with a fitting episode about the bubonic Plagues.

As usual, share this if you want to spread the joy os listening to podcasts. And let me know which podcasts you've been listening to.

(Additionally, I'm considering sharing this in the form of a newsletter as well, let me know your thoughts about that)

Have you given the latest Listening Chronicles a read?

While you're waiting for the next one, can you tell me what podcasts you've been listening to?

Hi, I’ll be honest, this week has been one of low podcast listening. I was distracted and couldn’t really focus on consuming podcasts. Let’s just call it one of those low energy weeks. I have instead been reading a couple of great football Manga series called Giant Killing and Ao Ashi. When I ...

Hi !

The 3rd edition of the Listening Chronicles is out !

This features my thoughts on the first episode of Mission ISRO and why it's a unique thing in Indian podcasting, of how I just can't seem to get enough of The Office and why the podcast series Articles of Interest will make you rethink what you wear and the clothes around us. I've also added a new section of Reader Suggestions (please help me think of a better name)

Do check out the post on the website, the link is in the bio.

Let me know what you think, and don't forget to recommend what you've been listening to this past week !

While a new episode is being made, give our older episodes a listen !

https://anchor.fm/curiousect

The fundamental idea behind Curiousect is to explore a range of questions. Initial few episodes were about careers and navigating through them. Right now, Time Capsule, which is the spinoff series is about the ideas, things and conversations that are worth revisiting in the future.

Hi!

You might remember, I am trying to document all of my podcast listenings. This is the 2nd weekly post about all the things I've been listening to, and what I would recommend.

It features my thoughts about a Vox produced podcast, a new trailer that has come out and an old but delightful audio experience.

Give it a read on the website!

And let me know what you've been listening to in the last few days, which podcast would you recommend?

Hello !

Few of my friends call me a podcast nerd. And I tend to agree with them.

I've been listening to podcasts for a few years now and it's become a habit of mine to listen to them on a daily basis.

I've often been asked recommendations and I do give them out - in some haphazard manner. Decided to change that.

So, on Curiousect - I'll be starting a weekly series of blogs. The Listening Chronicles.

I am going to recommend some of the episodes I have been listening to, every week starting today. And, I'll be suggesting a few older episodes (stuff I've heard in the past) as well.

(And I hope, making a public commitment will keep help me to not stop listening to podcasts regularly).

Give it a read !

What are some episodes you would recommend?
