Artwork: Annie Pootoogook, an Inuk artist pen and coloured pencil drawings portrayed the experiences of those in her community of Kinngait (Cape Dorset). Annie Pootoogook drowned in the Rideau River in Ottawa on September 19, 2016, in what police declared as a suspicious death.

Loretta Saunders, a 26-year-old Inuk woman, found herself in an exciting phase of her life. She was enrolled in the criminology program at Saint Mary's University in Halifax, Canada. Loretta come from a large and deeply affectionate family, despite her seven siblings living throughout canada. Our first story will be about Tina Fontaine and her tragic case, highlighting how our system failed her and continue to traumatize Indigenous people. We hope to lend our voices as allies to highlight those we have lost, and those who are still missing, the last Tuesday of each month until September 30th, the Day for Truth and Reconciliation 🌿
