The Dionysian Literary magazine attentive to the art of the playwright. At The Dionysian we believe a play exists for everyone.

Through this publication, we want to highlight and hono(u)r the power of the theatrical script. We aim to highlight the pure artistry of dialogue on a page, allowing it to be digested as an individual, or exchanged out loud from one voice to another. Reading a play allows humanity to connect in an incomparable way. We believe the playwright provides the breeding ground for a raw exchange of spirit

that all artists should have the chance to experience. Our main goal is to provide a platform to make this more accessible and showcase these works whilst providing a useful resource and playing field for the theatre community. Moreover, we hope to break down barriers in the arts, dispel some myths about theatre as an archaic or elitist art form and offer readers a provocative experience through theatrical text.

We spoke to Nina Segal about Danger Signals with Built for Collapse at New Ohio Theatre.

What is DANGER SIGNALS about? Danger Signals is a work about dysfunction – and about who makes the rules, of what is functional and what is not.  It is a show about the brain.  It’s also about ice, and ambition, and the patriarchy, and subjectivity.  And about two femal

What is SEAGULLMACHINE about and how does it fit into the work The Assembly does? SEAGULLMACHINE is big, multidimensional investigation into what it means to “take action” – politically, theatrically, personally. These questions have been central to The Assembly’s work since 2009, but SEAGUL...
