We’re going live TODAY!

For our paying Patreons, we’re going LIVE! You have questions, we have answers!
When: Thursday, March 28, 2024 (March 29 for Aus)
Time: 5pm EST (Miami), 9pm GMT (London), 8am AEDT for Sydney on Friday
Where: on YouTube! But we will be adding the link to our Patreon account here. I *think* we’re technologically savvy enough to make the logistics of that happen.
IF YOU ARENT a paying member, I’m so sorry. You can become one, though! All paying members are invited, regardless of the tier.
This is a great place for us to have a meet and greet together as a little family, so we can build this community together. We want you guys to meet each other too!
Looking forward to seeing you there!

For those out of the loop, we bought the Tayana 37, we’ve been working on it for a couple of weeks, and we’re literally just days away from taking it all the way round the state from Daytona Beach to Panama City, FL, MOTORING because the chain plates are totally shot so we can’t sail. Once we are home with the boat, we can tear into those bigger projects like the rigging and the decks.

The COLDEST Camping in our 1973 VW BUS - (The Orange Crate)
https://youtu.be/oU7rsphdLWc

We started a spin-off channel from The Siren’s Log because once we gained a fan base there, it became apparent that people were looking specifically for sailing content, and didn’t want VW content. In fact, we lost subscribers everytime we posted a fun VW video, even though our first few episodes on that channel were specifically VW videos, and TheSirensLog.com includes the busses. So here we are! Two YouTube channels.

Hey Guys! You may already know us. We're the same weirdos as The Siren's Log where we dive, fish, sail and are currently looking for our future sailboat. We ...

We were told by several people about another Formosa 51 nearby so we just had to head over and look with one of my favorite people in the world Daren Hoffman. Turns out, there were lots of options in this shipyard! We took the Volkswagen over and camped on the coldest day we’ve seen this winter so far, and saw the boats the next day. This is how it went.

26/12/2023

Hey Guys! We've made a decision that we've been throwing around for a while. We're starting a second YouTube channel for the VW content. When we started the channel at the beginning of the year, some of our VW videos did better than some of the other videos that we were doing that were either travel, fishing or Florida related, so we took that as a sign that we should incorporate them into our videos more. Knowing that we'd eventually get the sailboat and that would be the center of the channel, but we'd be also featuring the VW's, fishing, surfing, diving, etc. while on the boat, it made sense to keep sprinkling that VW content in. When we went viral over a couple of sailboat related videos, it became clear to us that sailing channels are doing really well on YouTube right now. While we never set out to be a "sailing channel" as a whole, since we do a lot of other water related things, it wasn't until that time that we realized that we needed to really try to stick to sailing (and probably our other boating, fishing, diving, surfing, etc) as much as possible, despite the fact that we're so much more than that. "The Siren's Log" has actually been around for YEARS as a website. We've always featured blog posts about a variety of ocean-lifestyle related content. It was never "just sailing". After gaining around 7k subscribers off a few sailing videos, we know that those subscribers want SAILING. While we don't promise that to anyone, we've noticed that our last few VW related videos not only did poorly, but we actually lost subscribers, and we're used to seeing that number go up, not down. That was alarming more than once, so it's time we shift all of our VW content over to a new channel called "ANOTHER VW CHANNEL". If you're into that, and our adventures in the VW's, by all means, look us up and follow over there!

The question now is: How do we maintain TWO channels?! This is a lot of work already, hours of filming, hours of editing, hours of uploading, hours in responding to comments sometimes.... We aren't yet sure what to do. It may be possible to do a weekly video on each channel, but I'm thinking we may have a period of time where we don't have a solid schedule on either channel. With that said, we'll be shifting some of our older VW videos from The Siren's Log over to the new VW channel, so we will likely have a nightly upload over there for at least a few days just to get the content up, and you'll see that content disappear from the old channel. I'm sure there will be some hurdles along the way, so please bear with us!!!

Heart to heart with you guys- I’m moving away from Instagram. So you guys have seen that we’re on YouTube, and we don’t want to be crazy spammy and constantly be like, “New video!” but frankly, we’ve gotta be. We started the weekly episode format at the start of 2023 with the goal of being monetized by 2024, because it’s a ton of work to be doing for free. Instagram and the content creation business has helped pay the bills for over a decade and now I need YouTube to replace that because it will enable us to do the new things we want to do. This job has always been a lot of work sitting at the computer, but I enjoy being creative, I can make money while I travel, and it’s very flexible and that’s my style. So!
If you’ve been following me and want to follow me into this next chapter, I have some real favors to ask. We need 1000 subscribers and 4000 watch hours to get monetized and frankly, we aren’t even close, and we’re not on track to do that by 2024. Here are some ways you can help us, if you’d like to.

-Visit www.youtube.com/ and subscribe to our channel. THANK YOU!

-Play some videos, even if you’re cooking dinner, the watch time will help us!

-Comment on the videos and on our social posts. Even if it’s just a heart or a thumbs up, the videos and posts are then shown to more people because the algorithm sees that people are interacting with it.

-Share the videos! If you are following my personal account Siren Williams or this account on Facebook, you can share the post from Facebook with your friends.

Thank you guys for being here all these years! Traction on Instagram has slowed down a LOT since I was bouncing around in a bikini with a surfboard in every post, but hey, that’s getting older. Gotta keep moving!
