Norma MacDonald Music has a busy late summer and early fall lined up with some solo shows, a full band show at Highland Arts Theatre, and a slot at the Glasgow Americana festival! On top of that, she is nominated for Americana/Bluegrass recording of the year at the Music Nova Scotia awards for her latest album In Waves. We’ve had a huge influx of sales of that record lately — thank you! Keep ‘em coming and check out a show if you can.

Hi there, I'm Norma. I'm a Halifax singer-songwriter heading to Ontario for some solo shows the last 2 weeks of May. So--vocals, acoustic guitar, possibly banjo? I have a small PA system that I can take with me as needed. I love good stories, bad jokes and audience engagement. I'm looking for a s**c

Our fourth and final release of 2023 was In Waves by Norma MacDonald Music. This is the second record we’ve released for Norma (2020’s Old Future being the first), and it feels like a fitting end of year record: poignant and reflective. “Comes in Waves” is getting well-deserved play on and Norma is planning full band shows in the new year (details soon). The vinyl for this record is stunning — grab one at normamacdonald.bandcamp.com, noyesrecords.limitedrun.com, darla.com, and your local record shop. CDs available as well!

Thanks for all of the support this year and every year (I think this is year 18?!?). If you have bought a record, thank you (seriously, thank you — every sale still feels like a huge win). If you’re thinking about it, there’s no time like the present. Working on some fun stuff for 2024.

On August 4, we released the Ellipsis EP by Crossed Wires. My band had played many shows with Crossed Wires over the years, and I recorded and mixed one of their earliest releases at my house out in the country (it was winter time and heat wasn’t really working; a story for another time). Anyway: as soon as I heard the intro to “Looped”, the opening track, I knew I had to release this record. 6 songs on a 45 rpm 12"…what's not to love? Pop punk at its finest with the added benefit of fuzzy shred guitar. The vinyl was a bit of a journey…we got the wrong colour configuration in the first shipment, so in a lemons/lemonade mindset there was a special release show pressing. One of the rarest Noyes variants!

Standard version available at crossedwireshfx.bandcamp.com, noyesrecords.limitedrun.com, darla.com, and your local record shop.

On June 9th, we reissued the perfect SIANspheric record there’s always someplace you’d rather be in a 2xLP gatefold deluxe edition. This record had been in the works for a long, long time — my band was on tour in Hamilton in around 2013, and I talked to Sean about it at an after party. 10 years later, we made it happen. Lovingly remastered by Saff Mastering, it also includes a cool repro of a letter Daniel Lanois sent the band before they started recording this record. I’m super proud of this one — a crown jewel in the 50+ Noyes releases for sure.

Limited copies remain at sianspheric.bandcamp.com, noyesrecords.limitedrun.com, darla.com, and your local record store.

Recapping our four releases of 2023 as the year comes to a close:

In April, we released Rock and Roll Was Here to Stay by Dartmouth’s Smaller Hearts. Under the Radar called it “an inviting synth pop daydream clouded with a melancholic haze”. This was the band’s first release on vinyl and we couldn’t have been more psyched to be a part of it.

Limited copies remain at all of the usual places includes smallerhearts.bandcamp.com, noyesrecords.limitedrun.com, darla.com, and your local shop.
