Groundhog babies have the funniest reaction to squirrel! They are scared of the unknown little cousin but also not sure what to do. So they just puff up like a balloon and pretend they are cool and walk away from the potential conflict! Different baby has different reactions, Persimmon is a warrior, Coco is more calm and pretend to be big, while Pooh just hide behind mama!

After a whole year of groundhog free in my vegetable garden, a new groundhog broke into my garden and robbed my plants! Once I saw the criminal scenes, I knew it was a new groundhog because all my hogs would check out the food area and leave immediately back to their holes. Only new comer would munch into my garden! 😂😂😂

Fluffy, roundy, wobbly and clumsy! groundhog babies are so playful and full of energy! they touch, smell and chew on all kinds of plants to explore the world outside of their burrow. These babies look pretty big and I believe it's not the first time they visit the magic garden!

What were you doing in 2004? Iphone didn't exist yet, Facebook was just founded at Harvard University. Life was much slower and simpler. This generation of Brood X cicadas were hatched and fell from the trees and burrowed into the dirt. They have been underground ever since, feeding on sap from the trees roots and slowly maturing. After 17 years underground, they are finally here to molt into their adult form! They sing their love songs and produce the next generation before dying just a few weeks later.

Do you know that groundhogs can actually climb trees like squirrels? check out this video to see how they do it! You'll see all three groundhogs in this video, funny Spot, grumpy Pudgie and gentleman Dookie! Spot did her morning exercise by climbing a tree, Pudgie got her self a giant carrot and learned to share food with Dookie, Dookie found it really challenging to eat a tomato! It just kept dropping and rolling!

How long does it take for Spot to get out of the hole and eat breakfast laying right in front of her? Well, it depends...it will take forever if there's a squirrel out there...I noticed long time ago that Spot was very cautious and non conflicting when she was a baby, she would watch other groundhogs eating for a very very long time and get closer little by little if not waiting forever. lol

Since Spot and Dookie moved in together, they do a lot things together, such as having breakfast under beautiful sunshine! Squirrel the Jazzper likes to join them and dig out peanuts I buried under the vegies. Both Spot and Dookie share food with thier little buddy. The funny thing is Jazzper stand right in front of the camera that makes it look soooo big compared to the groundhogs, lol it was a fun happy morning for everyone :)

Groundhogs kissing and hugging each other. It looks like they are going to mate and prepare for nursing home together. But I'm not sure if that's true because it's mid April and usually new born babies should have born by now. I'm looking forward to see what they are going to offer next, maybe we will have late born groundhog babies this year!

Who else likes carrot cake? I made carrot cake for the family and had some leftover carrot crumbs so I made a groundhog version carrot cake!

Cake part: Carrot chops with same length
Icing: carrot crumbs mixed with corn meal and peanut butter
Garnish: kale leaves, carrot peels and peanuts

Flowers are blooming, birds are chirping, I hope you enjoy this video :)

Or it's cloudy, and the groundhog doesn't see his shadow, meaning an early spring. What about snowy?
