This is non negotiable for me (and I wish more people knew about it)

Red light therapy helps improve mitochondrial function. You may remember from high school science class that mitochondria are the “power house” of our cells that produce energy (ATP)

Use of red light therapy can also help reduce wrinkles, boost collagen production, diminish scars, aid in muscle repair, wound healing, AND regulate serotonin (the happy hormone)

Recently but daughter got a BAD infection in her leg. It was really scary. I got her in front of my red light once a day and overnight there were HUGE improvements.

All in all it’s AMAZING, and I use mine everyday!

Grounding or “earthing” refers to the process of coming into contact with the negative charge of the earth to neutralize positive ions that can accumulate in the body causing stress, anxiety, inflammation, and pain.

A simple way to do this is to get outside barefoot, swim in natural bodies of water, and garden.

When it gets cold your options shrink a bit.

Parenthood is HARD so let’s make it easier…

Highly emotional kids feel DEEPLY and it can be so easy to downplay whatever they’re feeling just do get it to stop…

Always IDENTIFY and VALIDATE what your child is feeling. You don’t want to teach them what they’re feeling isn’t real or important.

Once you’ve done that find an activity to help them regulate those emotions:
- sing/dance
- stomp/shake
- color/paint
- simply hold and rock them
- use finger breathing

Thought catching has TRANSFORMED how I talk to myself and therefore how I FEEL about myself

Example 1

Thought: “I can’t to this. I’m so overwhelmed I’m going to fail”

Challenge: “Am I really incapable? Have I been able to achieve hard things in the past? How do I know I will fail without trying?”

Reframe: “I am capable of hard this because I’ve done many before. This is new so it’s overwhelming but I don’t be able to succeed if I don’t try. The fact that I’m trying to do hard things means I’m already a success”

Example 2

Thought: “I hate how I look. I’m so gross. Why can’t I do better?”

Challenge: “Do I really hate myself? What do other people tell me about myself? What great things am I able to do with the body I have?”

Reframe: My body allows me to do my job, my hobbies, and help and play with my family. I’m so thankful for the body I have. I love my body

That’s why I use the brain hack of habit stacking. You’re creating a fail proof way to implement change into your life!

Here’s a few examples of how you can stack regulating habits into your routine…

During your daily shower massage the side of your neck and your ears

While brushing your teeth repeat positive affirmations in your head.

Driving into work sing or hum a whole song

Here’s mine:

You are strong
You are smart
You are capable

Set healthy boundaries and protect your “me time”
Here are some self care ideas

Have your partner handle bed time, while you light some candles and take a bath

Schedule a facial

Go to dinner with a friend

Take a day off work when everyone will be out of the house and enjoy the silence!

Catch your negative thoughts and reframe them…

Instead of “I can’t do this!”

—> “This is difficult but I am doing the best I can and that’s ok!”

Here are 4 things I wish I would have known 20 years ago about my OCD and anxiety (that will help you today)

Your diagnosis does not define you

If fact, it’s not who you are AT ALL. You are an incredible human who has a dysregulated nervous system (which is presenting as OCD and anxiety)

These feelings will pass

Emotions don’t stick around forever. They may suck in the moment but they WILL pass. You won’t always feel overwhelmed (even if it seems that way)

Anxiety lies to you

Anxiety lies A LOT. Just because you think it (or fear it) doesn’t mean it’s true.

You don’t have to do it alone…

Lean into your support system when it becomes overwhelming. You were never meant to do this alone (and you don’t have to)

It matters more than you think it does…

Negative self-talk can significantly impact cortisol levels, which are closely linked to stress responses in the body. When we engage in negative self-talk, our brain perceives it as a form of threat, triggering the body’s “fight-or-flight” response. This stress response, managed by the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, leads to the release of cortisol, the body’s primary stress hormone.

High levels of cortisol over time can lead to chronic stress. The persistent activation of this stress response due to negative self-talk can make it more difficult for the body to return to a state of balance (homeostasis), perpetuating a cycle of increased cortisol and ongoing stress.

BUT practicing positive self-talk and mindfulness can help reduce cortisol levels.

Anxiety doesn’t mean you’re broken, weird or messed up!

Anxiety is a normal emotion we ALL FEEL.

Changing your mindset about your mental health is one of the first steps you need to start healing…

1. Stop apologizing. There’s nothing wrong with you. Everyone struggles from time to time (some all the time). You’re living in a constant state of fight of flight and this CAN be REVERSED

2. You aren’t giving yourself enough credit. If you’re TRYING, you’re WAY ahead of the crowd (and I’m proud of you)

3. Pay attention to yourself talk. How you speak to your self determines EVERYTHING. The day you have, your mood, the goals you set (or don’t) and what you accomplish (or don’t). Catch those negative thoughts and CHALLENGE THEM.
