This is my symbol, “The Rambleon”. Anybody still spinning vinyl records ought to recognize where I got inspired for the design.

There’s more to it than an obscure reference to analog music adapters!

The Rambleon symbolizes my love for music in all its forms, from every era, every genre, and every corner!

Those arrows aren’t just for recycling! You know how you can listen to the same song or album again and again and never get sick of it?

I’m always going from one sound to the next, searching non-stop for great sounds that make life that much more in every way. Music gets me through the ups and the downs.

And the way I Ramble On and on and on and on and on…and on… and on…

It’s my reminder to Keep-On-Truckin’, to keep chasing The Dream one step at a time. Aside from a strong cup of coffee, 🎵Music🎶 helps me push myself harder, inspires me to do better, and encourages me to stay motivated. Sometimes, we all need that little bit Extra to make our vision a reality.

So, to all of my readers and fellow creatives out there, take the Rambleon as a sincere wish from a complete and total stranger out there somewhere, saying: “YOU CAN DO IT!”

Hello! My Name is Erikson, and I’m the Orange Rambler. ✌😎🤘 Hop aboard my bus (AKA this Zine), and I’ll take you for a spin making a playlist of the coolest tunes I come across on a far-out sonic road-trip across uncharted frequencies.

What’s in store? Mostly Heavy Metal and Rock-N’-Roll, but my ears and eyes are open wide, and I’m game to shine a spotlight on any genre of music so long as it’s AWESOME!

I firmly believe that the BEST music is NOT talked about enough! Let’s fix that, shall we?

The Orange Rambler’s Mission is to bring people together.

Ok, here’s the Hippy part of the “Half-Metalhead-Half-Hippie”. It’s true: I’M NOT the super studly badass tough guy in the wonky-lookin’ pictures (I kinda look like that in real life!). I might be wearing a black T-shirt with some seriously ABOMINABLY BRUTAL, Hieronymus Bosch-level album art on it, but I’m a softie at heart🧡 who lets spiders outside in a little cup when they get stuck in my bathtub. 🕷

That’s because music helps me find my peace.🎵☮

Hyperbole aside, we don’t NEED war. We NEED music! Music is a creative force. It’s an outlet for our feelings, good and bad. Musicians and artists are doing the right thing by getting all of the muck-and-guck out of their system in a way that doesn’t hurt anybody else.

I support creativity in all its forms, and as fallible creatures prone to aggression, I would much rather turn to music to vent than lash out. Music and peace go together as well as peanut-butter and well, everything. 😎🧡🥜

Music is not to blame for people’s wrongdoings. Don’t give in to hate or violence. Don’t give in to doubt, worry, or despair.

I’m not going to tirade from atop my soap box for much longer. I’ll leave it to those before me who have said it better and in far fewer words:

ROCK: 🤘Horns UP!!🤘

The Orange Ramber’s Mission is to promote and support artists, musicians, and creatives who follow their dreams! Raising your horns is a deep sign of respect, and shows your appreciation whether you’re catching a show live or online. It’s not “Devil-Worship”, people! 😈

As the story goes, legendary singer Ronnie James DIO popularized the sign when he toured with Black Sabbath back in ‘79, something he borrowed from his grandma to ward off bad vibes and the EEEVIL EYE! [Really though, its origin goes waaaaaaay back! Just take all this with a generous grain of Apocryphal salt. Like Mark Twain said, “Never let the truth get in the way of a good story.”]

Music fans started copying him and it has stuck ever since!

My aim is to spread the word and sound of lesser known creators, sometimes sandwiched between the bigger names to get more eyes👀 & ears👂👂🌽 (and also because I can’t help rambling!), because everybody deserves time in the spotlight! It’s downright CRIMINAL how little recognition the most DEDICATED, HARDWORKING, and UNBELIEVABLY TALENTED bands and musicians get compared to the BLOOD, SWEAT, and TEARS they put into their craft!

So my reminder to my readers is this: SHOW YOUR SUPPORT!

SHINE UP your favorite artists, and be a Big Fan!

Even if that’s just in the form of a few nice words and some ROCKIN HORNS \../, in the comments 🤘 (even better if you buy official merch!!). YOU can make a HUGE difference in someone’s life! [and if you don’t like something, maybe just keep it to yourself…] I always want to hear your good recommendations (self-promos WELCOME!), so sound off and rattle away!

🧡LOVE: I LOVE MUSIC!🧡🎵

The Orange Rambler’s Mission is to spread the sounds of amazing music far and wide. There’s room enough for EVERYBODY to take the stage, regardless of what you believe, where you come from, or who or how you love.

Love and Music both are universal languages, we don’t have to understand it to “get it”. Everybody loves a different kind of music, and that’s beautiful, especially when you can share that love with others who feel the same.

I ride by the rule of, “Treat Others How You Want to Be Treated”. So long as you can follow that, we’re cool. In a world where there is so much chaos, cruelty, and injustice, we would all be better off with more Music, more Love, and More Acceptance.

Take it from the Heart on this one: The Orange Rambler STANDS for musicians, artists, and all other creatives that share what’s on the inside in constructive self-expression. There’s NO ROOM for HATE on this tour bus. 🛑

The Road of Life is long and winding, but we all share in the journey. Whether you’re crusin’ with the blues, jammin’-out to funky jazz, or putin’ that pedal to the METAL, Music and Love Make Life Much Better.

Greetings, Ramblers!! ✌👽🤘 I'M ALIVE(!) and here to give a little update on what I've been up to! Tune in! Here's your Summer 2024 Update:

First, I'm happy to say that I am indeed alive and well. I've been putting my pedal to the 🤘METAL🤘 lately, working on a whole new set of Ramblings for you! Stay tuned! Volume 4 of the Orange Rambler Music Zine is in the works!

Second, expect some LIVE ACTION, because I've been to some pretty rad concerts, including ticking off one HUGE band from my live show bucket list!

Third, I was STOKED to see Gojira perform "Ah! Ça Ira!" at the Paris 2024 Olympic games! FINALLY we're seeing more metal bands prominently featured on a WORLD stage. To France, I salute and say, "Merci Beaucoup!" Lady Gaga's performance was pretty ⭐stellar✨ too, I must say!

Some of my other favorite French bands include Alcest (black metal), Trust (classic rock/punk) (check out their song "Antisocial"!), Igorrr (avant-garde/experi-METAL (pun-intended)), and BENIGHTED (grind).

That about wraps it up! Thank you, my readers and ramblers, for following! I PROMISE more Ramblings are coming (and soon!). This bus may top out at 59mph, (Zero-to-Sixty in... NEVER), but I'm pushin' it to the limit for ya!!

Happy Pride Month, Ramblers!! 🌈As an ally, I RIDE with PRIDE, and acknowledge all of the incredible voices and musicians that have filled our lives with color through their brave self expression.❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 Love and Music are Universal, crossing all boundaries and differences. We can better understand each other if only we STOP and LISTEN to the messages coming from outside our own experiences. Let's strive to make a world where EVERYBODY can express themselves OPENLY without fear of persecution. The stage is big enough for us all, so tune in to those of us who uniquely face more challenges from society, family, relationships, and even from within. For anybody out there who identifies as LGBTQ+, the microphone is all yours: 🎤

I also acknowledge that June hosts Juneteenth and Men's (Mental) Health Awareness. There is room enough for US ALL, and it is my hope that through creative self expression (music, art, fashion, dance, etc.) we can bridge the superficial differences that seemingly divide us, and instead live with empathy and acceptance for one another, regardless of background. ☮️

On a personal note, I've been very busy lately! If I had all of the caffeine and energy in the world, I would have loved to have written another Ramblin' Rainbow of Reviews to spotlight more music this year, but there were some pretty important life things that I couldn't let slide. For that, I am sorry.

Don't worry though, as I still fully intend to keep Rambling about music (and hopefully more!) soon, so I beg for your patience. The Orange Rambler is NOT going to get a speeding ticket anytime soon!! Thank you all for your support through lending your ears, eyes, and words. You all Rock the World! 🤘😎✌️

Happy Record Store Day!! Go out for a SPIN to your local music shops and dig through those crates!⛏ There's 💎TREASURE💎 to be found, and the best part is you DON'T even have to know where to look! Just beat feet to your local Indie or Mom & Pop and keep your eyes and ears open👂👀👂. Ask around for a recommendation!

Story Time! The owner of one of my favorite record stores once told me why he NEVER catalogued his inventory: Firstly, because it would be a massive PAIN in the @$$, but Secondly, because when you have to peruse through a section to find what you're after, you may find something else that you had never heard of that becomes a new favorite! That lead to the coining of his store's motto: "You Don't Know What You Don't Know!"

Don't stay cooped up like a chicken!🐣 ...Or just do YOU and listen to some great tunes anyway. 🤘😎✌️ Either way, I wish you all a SAFE, RESPONSIBLE, and Magnificently Marvelous Record Store Day!!🎼

J. P. Ahonen, creator of the black metal band and comic, @ Belzebubs, CONFIRMED that the second album is COMPLETE. More information about its release is expected to come soon. I'd bet a mug of my favorite BLVCK ROAST COFFEE that it's going to be AMVZING!

Metal Blade Records announced that the technical melo-death band WRETCHED is going on tour this summer with 6 shows in North America! It's been damn near 10 YEARS since they dropped their last record, and nearly as long since they've played live, so give them a hearty WELCOME BACK! I HIGHLY recommend their entire discography for fans of anything heavy and tech-y. Metalheads, Rejoice! 🤘😎🤘

RECORD STORE DAY is ONE WEEK AWAY!! Next Saturday, April 20th, 2024, I would encourage you all to go out from hiding in your comfy, internet-accessible caves and SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL RECORD STORES AND MUSIC SHOPS! Use it as an excuse to meet with friends, look for gifts, or just go to one of those "3rd Places" you've heard so much about. Pick out an album just based on the name or cover and give it a listen! Have some fun! I, Erikson, captain of The Orange Rambler, compel and permit you to do so! 🤘😎🤘

In other news...

I recently picked up the new Judas Priest and Green Day albums, and I can report that they are both EXCELLENT!

The LEGENDARY Record Shop that was formerly He***te, currently Neseblod Records, of Oslo, Norway, BURNED DOWN in a fire that is being investigated. Unfortunately, a lot of important Black Metal artifacts and memorabilia was damaged. There is a GoFundMe collecting donations to help the shop through this tragedy.

POWERWOLF unveiled the title for their next album (scheduled to release July 26, 2024), "WAKE UP THE WICKED" as well as singles, "BLESS 'EM WITH THE BLADE", and "SINNERS OF THE SEVEN SEAS". In my opinion, it's guaranteed to be Bad-Ass!

I am happy to say that I am doing well and hanging in there! My mind has been busy a-buzzin' with more ideas and creative projects than my hands can keep up with, so even if it takes me a while (I'm a SLOW driver!), there's plenty more Rambler on the way! Just sit tight, spin a record, and remember to stay hydrated while I try to drum up some more musical musings!

Thank you everyone who continues to support me with your likes and follows! I still appreciate each and every gesture of kindness as I see them come across my feed. Music is a universal language that connects us across barriers, and I am happy to have made so many friends through the passion of music.

Hail, Readers! The Orange Rambler is BACK in BLVCK, this time reviewing a virtual reality Black Metal concert: Belzebubs - The 360° HEXperience! That name should sound familiar to anybody who read my last Halloween edition, because their 2019 album ‘Pantheon of the Nightside Gods’ is one of my all-time FAVORITES! 🎃

Based off of the artful genius and writing of J.P Ahonen, this slice-of-life comedy mixed with the visually shocking Black Metal lifestyle has been brought SHREDDING and SCREAMING into GLORIOUS 3D!

So what did I think of it? Turn the page (or whatever your device’s equivalent is) to find out!
