What a fun night. I was invited to join the all boys club monthly dinner with Rick and David. He was the Italian gold buyer at Q for 20+ years, and Lisa R’s executive buyer for 7. He is smart and knows his stuff. We had a blast, I ordered the entire menu and skipped out before the bill came. They are still whining. Thanks guys.
Is it just me, or do you get tapped by a customer survey everywhere you go?
I went to the car dealership, drugstore, the market, the bank, the doctor’s office, the laundromat to wash a large quilt and a store to get a new black T-shirt.
Within an hour, all seven were on me like stink on poo.
How was your experience?

I fully expect when I go to the bathroom, a survey will appear asking about the cleanliness of the toilet, the quality of the TP, and the cheerfulness of the stall..
I understand that some employees’ bonuses and evaluations are tied into these surveys, but an ATM? Every time? If I ignore and delete, they come around sniffing at least two more times.
Believe me, nobody is faster to complain than I am if something is awry.
So why not send a note saying “ thanks for stopping by. If your experience was unpleasant, please respond here.

Enjoyed our annual sojourn to Canada. Strong sun, had to cover up, but the fish were biting. All throw backs, but fun to catch.
I just had to catch this moment. Steve was heading out to the garden to pull weeds and groom the wild over growth.
In an effort to protect against sun, ticks, thorns and prickly bushes, he covered up head to toe.
I am hysterical. There’s more missing from that shirt than there. He loves his gardening shirt, refuses to give it up. Last night I washed it and half of it disintegrated in the machine.
The hat and knee pads are kind of sexy.
What a hoot!
I manage to put my foot in it almost daily, and today was a beauty.
Ever since Covid, Steve has played online bridge. At least twice a week he sits at his computer and hooks up a live game with his cronies. He does not have a speaker on this older desktop, so he uses his phone on speaker. He can talk with his partner, laugh when someone makes a goofy move, or just chit chat at whim.
I came in from tennis, unaware that his speakerphone was on and all the bridge gang could hear.
I prattled on about, shall I say, a perky new "pair" one of the young girls just bought, and I might add my language was akin to any trucker's.
I just kept going on, and then I heard someone clear their throat, sort of an "ahem", as if to say "before you bury yourself any further, you might want to know we are hearing you."
Shoot me now! Steve didn't warn me, didn't stop me, just let me keep going on with my peppered descriptions and colorful adjectives. He laughed. He's in trouble, dinner cancelled.

Getting ready to Skype in tonight, Tuesday the 8th with new host Melissa McGoff on Q2. If you haven’t seen her yet, she is a bundle of adorable energy, playful, thrilled to be at Q, and just sweet as can be.
I have four items tonight around 10:30. Stop by and say hi.
This was the silly little fish I caught ( a calico bass), and the guy wasn’t a bad catch either. The other photo was the breathtaking wedding venue.
Sorry for being M.I.A these last weeks. Another whirlwind segment in the life of KL.
We flew to Utah for a family wedding with all the trimmings. Since every single guest was an out of towner, the rehearsal dinner was for 200 . It might as well have been the wedding. It was a saloon style party, wear a hat, cowboy boots, and park your horse in the front, a fun night.
We met our cousins for a loud raucous lunch the next afternoon and walked the downtown of Park City. It was super hot, high altitude, and Steve and I looked like limp rags until we adjusted.
The wedding that night was outdoors at 6 p.m. The sun was beating down and everyone was sweat soaked. Never have I prayed so hard that the officiant would giddy up and get it over with so we could go inside.
Since the event took place on an enormous stretch of open land, there were horses nearby.
When the officiant asked if anyone objected to the marriage, one of the horses whinnied. It was hysterical, and nobody took it as a negative omen.
The ceremony ended and we all fled into the cool barn where the flowers and lights numbered in the thousands. I would like to have been the florist for that event. Absolutely breathtaking.
Steve left on Sunday to return home and I carried on to California to see my brother.
We saw the Padres win 5 - 3, and we caught some nice fish while my poor sister in law hung her head over the side. It was a long overdue visit and I enjoyed seeing them .
The trip back east was uneventful except for the one requisite screaming child on the plane, across from me of course. He was restless, wanted to run up and down the aisles. At one point he looked at me and I stuck my tongue out. He stopped moving and crying. If I stopped doing it, he started crying again. So I had to play hide and seek with my tongue for 4 hours. Talk about happy to get home to peace and quiet.
I am back in the swing, looking at new products and doing a few Skype hits.
Tomorrow night, Tuesday, August 8 on Q2 around 10:30 p.m. I will have some good buys.

Have you ever heard the expression "some days you're the pigeon, and some days you're the statue?"
In short it means you are either the pigeon who targets you, or the statue who gets dumped on by the pigeon, (aka the loser) .
Today I was clearly the statue.
We have a pesky squirrel who refuses to give up on the sweet sugar water in the hummingbird feeder. Every day he hangs by his toenails on the pole and reaches over, swaying and dumping the whole thing on the ground.
Today I decided to fix his wagon. I greased the pole with vegetable oil and then threw curry powder on it so he wouldn't climb near it.
(the hummingbirds are unaffected).
As I was teetering precariously on a stool, the wind gusted and the curry blew back on me, my hair, my eyelashes, my clothes.
Steve walked in and asked if we were having something special for dinner.
It took 2 showers and a load of laundry to remove the stink.
I am definitely the statue today, and the squirrel is LHAO.

Steve says "you can sleep when you're dead". Valid point!
