My first interview in Vietnamese with “Phụ Nữ Việt Nam“ about my journey as a woman moving from Germany to Vietnam to become a DJ.

It was very emotional to talk about my life and personal experience as a female artist and the differences between both cultures & identities.

We asked Levi Oi, 🇩🇪🇻🇳 DJ, what diversity means for her:

“Born and raised in Bavaria as the daughter of Vietnamese parents, Germany was of course always my home, but I always noticed that I was different. Back then, I mostly had German friends and it was only when I moved to Berlin for my studies that I started to deal with my Vietnamese identity - thanks to my gradually growing circle of Vietnamese friends. I was so fascinated, that I quit my job in Berlin and London about 1.5 years ago to start a new life in Vietnam.

I wish that women especially in Vietnam should be free and able to realize their dreams without the constant social pressure of having children from the mid-20s and staying at home to cook.👩🏼‍🍳

I remember this day so vividly. My first Boiler Room (also the first one ever in Ho Chi Minh City)! 🍹🥑🍊🍋🍌🍉
When I started to listen to electronic music, this was always my source of inspiration, where I would watch DJs play music and the crowd dancing & having fun. Back then, it was my biggest dream and I am so grateful to have the opportunity to play there and it feels so weird to see my name on this!
