A brief, small, short-lived tornado was determined to have occurred in the Cantonment area in Escambia County, Florida late in the morning on June 17th. The tornado had winds of 65mph, was 5 yards wide, and was on the ground for around 0.14 miles.

We are becoming increasingly concerned that the southward-moving boundary may slow down or stall over the southern half of our local area, possibly setting up for another heavy rainfall/flash flooding event this evening and into the overnight hours. Greatest concern exists for locations along the Florida Panhandle and south-central Alabama which saw significant rainfall last night.

We have an increased chance of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon into the overnight period with flooding rains over much of the local area. For tomorrow, we’ll be under a Level 2 risk for severe weather with damaging straight-line winds as the primary threat. Rain remains in the forecast for the next seven days.
