speedcube.com.au recently announced that they were shutting down after 9 great years. I was very lucky to have a physical speedcube store less than 15 minutes drive from my house - and then they moved even closer. Speedcube was always my go-to for buying cubes, not only because of the convenience, but also because of the fantastic customer service and wide range. In November 2018, I was lucky enough to get a job at Speedcube, which I had until I started an internship in early 2020. I was very fortunate to have a boss who was as supportive as Maxine (and to get to work with Alan Ma 😘), even when I struggled to get to work on time. This job really opened my eyes to how much speedcubing was growing in Australia, especially in children and younger teenagers. I think Speedcube played a big part in this - having somewhere in Melbourne that people could come and buy or try out cubes helped a lot of people get into cubing and encourage their friends to as well. A lot of kids absolutely loved the store - they would get their parents to drive them from far away and spend hours at the store, trying out different cubes. .speedcuber was one of these, and I got to watch him develop from a young and enthusiastic kid to one of the world's best 2x2 solvers.
Speedcube, thanks for everything you've done for me and the Australian speedcubing community. Maxine, all the best for whatever you do next.
