I'm watching a YouTube video that is an upload of an early 90s VHS titled "Law Enforcement Guide to Satanic Cults." In this video, they have a former satanic high priest "expert." For a former "high priest" this mulleted douchenozzle, he notes a tree that's marked with an "inverted cross." It looked more like the parks department had marked the tree to be cut down as it looked diseased.
One of these so called experts, Mike Warnke, was proven to have fabricated his claims of being a drug addicted, high priest of a coven of over 1500. When called out on his lies by none other than a xtian magazine Cornerstone, he recanted that his coven was merely 13 people, 5 of which he didn't know where they were and 8 were conveniently dead. During the time frame in which he claimed to have been a long haired, drug addicted high priest who attended rituals with none other than Charles Manson, Cornerstone uncovered pictures of Warnke where he looked like an average guy in the late 60s, and further uncovered that he couldn't have hung out with Charlie as Manson was in federal prison at the time.
Things like this upset me. The Satanic Panic of the 80s-90s destroyed the lives of many people. (See Kern County child abuse cases, McMartin preschool trial, and the West Memphis 3) Some spending many years in prison convicted on ignorance and fear of "god-loving" people before their convictions being overturned.
Don't take any one "expert" opinion as the full truth. Not a former "satanist" or some pastor or priest, they have their own agenda. Fear is a great manipulation tool to the detriment of others.
