Special Features are back with another isolation episode in quick fire fashion!

In this episode, we discuss and take a look at the film documentary - Memory: The Origins Of Alien. The documentary, released in 2019, explores the origins of Ridley Scott's Alien and his works on the Alien franchise. The documentary includes original story notes, rejected designs and storyboards, exclusive behind the scenes footage and screenwriter Dan O'Bannon's original 29 page script of Memory, which was the starting point for the Alien film script.

The documentary takes us on the path in the lead up and the making of the Alien film and explores the talents of screenwriter Dan O'Bannon, Film Director Ridley Scott and Visionary Artist H.R Giger, and their once in a lifetime collaboration that made Alien one of the best science fiction horror films and franchises of all time. Lookout for H.P Lovecraft, Francis Bacon, the Greek Furies and producer Walter Hill, the film's producer that decided to pass on directing Alien, in favour of the film Southern Comfort, which a solid film, but is no Alien.

So sit back, relax and enjoy the episode, brought to be Stan who are streaming the doco at the moment, and let's not forget JB HI FI as well......just kidding!

See you on the flipside,
Nath Fontaine & Tone Capone.

Tone Capone and Nath Fontaine are back with a new 30 minute episode that is shining a light on film and TV. This episode is an exercise in stream of consciousness and riffing on the subject of cinema, and I hope you guys enjoy the rough and ready ride!

In this episode we cover and discuss films/tv that we have been uncovering and getting into and geeking out over lately. We cover films ranging from Under The Silver Lake by David Robert Mitchell, Apocalypse Now - The Final Cut by Francis Ford Coppola , Mid90’s by Jonah Hill, Mirai - a Japanese Anime release, Bill and Ted Excellent Adventure and Bill and Teds Bogus Journey and also discuss the Marvel phenomenon and whether its cinema or just a theme park ride. We would love to hear your thoughts on that one, as it has been a touchy subject on the internet and social media.

Anyway, enough of our jive talk , we hope you enjoy the new 30 minute SF episode with Nath and Tone.

Peace,

Nath Fontaine & Tone Capone

SF-EP-063 - Prince Tribute

SF are back with our tribute to the one , the only, Purple One - Prince Rogers Nelson.

We are profoundly saddened by the passing of one of the true musical greats of all time.

Prince was an American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, record producer, and actor who has sold over a 100 million records worldwide, making him one of the best selling artists of all time. To top it all off he has won seven grammy awards , a golden globe and an academy award for the film Purple Rain.

He was a musical innovator and known for his pioneering and diverse work, flamboyant stage presence, extravagant dress and makeup, and extensive vocal qualities and range. He had the brilliant ability to incorporate a wide variety of styles, including funk, r and b, rock, pop, psychedelic and new wave into his own original and unique persona and groundbreaking tackling of lyrical subject matter that was deemed taboo back in the 70's, 80's and 90's.

He left us some of the greatest records of all time including Dirty Mind, Controversy (Prince album), 1999 , Purple Rain (album), Around the World in a Day, Parade, Sign o' the Times (album), Lovesexy, Diamonds and Pearls and a great film - Purple Rain, need we say more.

To lose a genius like David Bowie earlier in the year was bad enough , but to lose Prince, another of pop music's true mavericks and popular music's most well known cult artist is a kick in the royal teeth.

He was still a young man as well, who was still releasing new music like it was going out of style and had recently did a concert tour. So, calling this a tragedy is an understatement, as he still had some more music to share with his loyal fans.

Given all of this, Special Features have decided to put together a tribute episode , where we discuss the man, the music, the myth and everything else in between. We talk about the influence that Prince has had on us, popular culture and music at large.

So sit back, relax and let us all remember Prince - his legacy and the sheer depth of musical riches that he left us, which is the truest gift that Prince could ever leave the world

Peace out Purple One and thanks for the music,

Tone and Nath
