🌳Kilim Geoforest Park, nestled in Langkawi, Malaysia, is a natural wonderland of mangrove forests, limestone formations and serene waterways. We went with the 2hr boat tour option and loved winding through the many rivers filled with mangroves. The tour included exploring a cave filled with bats, the kids loved it and so did we!🦇 We were also taken to a spot to observe eagles flying above and swooping down for food. 🦅 We then marvelled at the ancient geological wonders that make this UNESCO-listed geopark a captivating destination. Our last stop was the floating fish farm and restaurant, where you choose your own fresh seafood to eat. 🐟 The tour was a tranquil and engaging experience that we would highly recommend!🌳

Christmas has never been about presents for me, it’s been about reflecting on the many blessings we already have – my family, our health, safety, the gift of travel and the lessons from every experience that shapes us into better humans. Unfortunately, not everyone will have a merry Christmas tomorrow, some live in war times, others poverty or abuse and I pray for their circumstances to change 🙏🏼 and I also thank God for the mountains that inspire, sunsets that paint the sky, the vastness of the ocean, the beauty of nature, serene beaches, and the joy of laughter. My list could go on and on but I’d like to hear yours!

📝What fills your heart with gratitude this festive season? ❤️

We embarked on a delightful and hot day out in Putrajaya yesterday. Our journey led us to into the Secret Garden, a lush oasis of tranquility, followed by the Putrajaya Steps, a testament to architectural beauty. Finally, we stood in awe of the magnificence that is the pink Putra Mosque 🕌 We also stopped for some delicious Arabic food for lunch and cooled down with mango ice blocks, memories we'll cherish forever🖤 How was your weekend? What’s something, big or small, that made you smile?🙂

Hello Facebook Fam! 🌍
We've got some new faces here, so let's get acquainted! I'm Sarah, from Canada and my husband is Ryan, representing Australia. Our story began down under when I was studying to be a teacher. 👩🏼‍🏫
Our journey has taken us to various corners of the world, from the UK, where we explored Europe's wonders, to the splendid outdoor haven of Canada and ultimately to the sunny shores of Australia, where we put down roots and welcomed two energetic boys into our family. 🇨🇦🇦🇺👨‍👩‍👦‍👦
But the adventures didn't stop there! In June, we took a leap of faith, sold our belongings, and embarked on a new chapter. Was it easy? Not by a long shot! Tears and stress were our companions leading up to our departure, but boy, was it worth it! We've gone from not knowing where Malaysia is on a map to being in love with this country and all the incredible experiences it offers. 🇲🇾
✨ We'd love to hear from you, are any of you living in a country different from your birthplace? Is there a country you want to move to? Where are you traveling to next? Share your thoughts, stories and tell me about your journey!

During our short stay in Sabah, we had a wonderful time exploring the region. Here are some of the activities we truly enjoyed:
⛰️Wandering the charming town of Kudasang, where we were treated to breathtaking views of the majestic Mount Kinabalu.
🌿Walking up Sosodikon Hill where the lush greenery and panoramic views from the hilltop were truly spectacular.
✨Mari Mari Cultural Village was a cultural immersion like no other. We learned about the traditions and heritage of the indigenous people of Sabah
🤿Snorkeling with vibrant marine life and pristine coral reef made for some unforgettable memories.
🌅Watching the sunset from Gaya Island was a peaceful experience, with the sky lit up in beautiful shades of pink and orange.
🍈Exploring the market and trying new fruits with the help of local experts who were so friendly. The one pictured is Tarap and so delicious!

Sabah left us with cherished memories and a desire to return for more exploration in the near future!

Gaya Island Resort Review

What we loved:
💗The ocean views around the resort and all the greenery (pack mosquito repellent).
💗The wildlife in and out of the water.
💗Water activities (bring your own snorkel gear because theirs is hit-and-miss).
💗Spacious room with a walk in robe, large bathroom and giant bath.
💗Lots of area to walk around, explore and build your appetite doing to walk down to the restaurant.

What we didn’t like:
👎🏻Expensive boat ride cost to get there from the mainland.
👎🏻Nothing for kids to do when they need a break from the sun. Wouldn’t be suitable for toddlers as they can’t snorkel or swim solo.
👎🏻Sharing a bed with an active sleeper as there were only enough beds for 3 people.
👎🏻One restaurant was adults only (which is great for adults and I understand why) but the other option was teppanyaki which was super expensive so that left us with only 1 restaurant option for all our meals.
This would be the ideal place for a kid free relaxation holiday.

Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Review

We only stayed 3 nights but wish we had booked for longer!

What we loved:
💗The atmosphere and style of the resort is calm and tropical feeling. There’s plenty of seating areas to relax and read or snack.
💗The location is spectacular with a private beach and amazing views from every part of the resort.
💗So many activities to keep the kids entertained on down days/rainy days at the resort and the best kids club!
💗The buffet breakfast had a ton of variety of cuisines and fresh juices.
💗The pool is massive and has different depths to suit all ages and abilities. There are lifejackets to borrow and an adults only area.
💗Lots of walking paths around the resort, open spaces for kids to run and a nice garden to explore.

What we didn’t:
👎🏻There’s 4 of us but the room only had enough beds for 3 so we had to use the little couch as a bed for the youngest. Luckily he’s still small enough.
👎🏻The rooms need updating. No more carpet please.

On this day, 3 months ago, we left the sunny beaches of Australia for the roti filled land of Malaysia. Best life changing decision ever! It definitely wasn’t easy, lots of tears were shed (occasionally still are) and stress levels through the roof from selling all the contents of our life from the past 12yrs, cleanings an entire house and packing to survive out of a suitcase for a while. On this day, our neighbours were beyond incredible, they helped clean and took left over items for the op shop, calmed our nerves, and filled our bellies with a delicious picnic dinner as our final meal in our house before the shuttle arrived to take us away. We couldn’t have successfully left our house without them, their help and love❤️ Forever grateful and so blessed to have this experience, it was all worth it.

Traveling with kids is taking care of them in new locations 😂 - They still play up, are loud, have demands and get upset over little things but it’s definitely a lot more enjoyable and bearable and amazing memories are still created amongst the chaos.

Anyone else compare the cost of material things to travel related costs? I could buy that nice couch or I could spend it on flights ✈️ I could buy name brand clothing or I could put it towards accommodation or an experience🗺️We’ve never been materialistic people because we’ve always valued traveling more than things and we try to be minimalist, kids make it hard🙃 Do you have a family motto?

Sunscreen & sand😖 It makes my skin crawl but for some reason we’ve always lived next the ocean, in Oz and the UK, until now. Our kids grew up going to the beach on weekends and our trips were often beach destinations. That’s all changed now and change is good 🙃It allows growth, learning and new beginnings. Embrace new chapters, challenges and all, there may be something for you to learn from it📔

WAY back in 2009(hence the photo quality), I was visiting Morocco and rode a 🐪camel for hours out into the desert 🏜️ and slept under the stars, watching shooting stars for as long as my eyes stayed open. Words can’t express what an epic experience that was and I highly recommend everyone does it once🌠
p.s it’s freezing at night
