An AMBER Alert has been issued on behalf of the Dickson County
Sheriff`s Office for Elliana "Ellie" Russell-McCarson. Ellie is a
6 year old white female, 4 feet 2 inches tall, and 45 pounds with
blond hair and hazel eyes. There is no known clothing description
and no known direction of travel at this time. If you have seen
Elliana Russell-McCarson or have information regarding her
whereabouts, please contact Dickson County Sheriff`s Office at

WNKX FM returned on-air about 9:30am. Thanks to MLEC for their dedication to getting power restored as quickly and possible. We do have some minor audio quality issues but those should be resolved soon. Thanks for your patience and support!

* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.

* WHERE...Portions of Middle Tennessee.

* WHEN...From 6 PM Friday to 6 AM CST Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Warm surface temperatures may prevent
accumulations on some roadways Friday evening, but cold temps
will allow for slick spots on areas where snow has not accumulated. Use extreme caution when driving Friday night and Saturday morning.

Crews are wrapping up scattered outages created from the flooding & ice. With the weather as it is, we anticipate other outages my occur throughout the day but know MLEC is prepared to keep the power on.

Update: After making a trip to our transmitter we realized that temps have remained near freezing all morning, especially on the higher elevations. As these pics show the trees in that area are still covered in ice. The tower has large icicles toward the top where our antenna is located. We will continue to stream our regular programming on our WNKX KiX 96 FM app and at this link:

It will take some time for the antenna to clear of the ice. We have hopes of being able to restart the transmitter sometime tomorrow morning. We will keep you updated here on this page. Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Good morning. Last night just before 6:00pm our FM transmitter went offline due to antenna icing. After reducing power we were able to return to the air around 7:30pm. We noticed trees becoming ice covered in the area, and with our antenna on a 250 ft. tower on one of the highest point in the county ice buildup is possible when conditions are right. During the night our transmitter went offline again, likely due to the continued buildup of ice. We continue to broadcast our regular programming via our online stream at: https://radio.securenetsystems.net/ce/index.cfm?stationCallSign=WNKX
Because we encountered trees across the road in at least two locations as we left the area last night it will be later this morning before we will attempt to return to the tower location. As temperatures continue to climb later today, the ice will melt and we expect to return our transmitter to full power. We will keep you updated on this page.
