Sensory play has so many wonderful benefits, too many to list in one post!
For us, it is the biggest form of play we do as my children seem to crave it!
Sensory play also isn’t just limited to touch play such as sand, water, scooping etc. It can be any form of play that engages the 5 senses - sight, sound, taste, touch and smell.

I coloured some bicarb with food colouring and we activated it with vinegar and a touch of dish liquid to make it super foamy. We finished it off with 1/2 a cup of straight vinegar to make some big, colourful bubbles.
We LOVED the end result and totally think it looks like a rainbow planet 🪐

I didn’t think he could do it!
Shame on me! I should have more faith in his capabilities.
It wasn’t easy for him but he absolutely nailed it and he LOVED choosing the colours, making them and putting them in the size template.
He showed great concentration and he had to manoeuvre both hands. If he let go and it unraveled it was an exercise is patience and trying again.

Mr 11 absolutely LOVES potions. He could do this all day. This one was just a simple potion fizz but he was so mesmerised by it.

We added something here that we’ve not used in potions before and it was AMAZING
Some things we used here were:
• Mermaid Shimmer Drops
• Tapioca Pearls
• Tiny Sea Shells
• Rockpool Fizz (chocolate)
• and the special ingredient… instant snow
The snow made the most awesome, sludgy texture so when he got his hand in there he could squeeze it and scoop it into the little jars.
And of course we bottled up that magic to treasure for the day 😊

We have a lot going on here at the moment which is why I’ve not been very present here but it also means I don’t have a huge amount of time to do beautiful play set ups or fun & engaging learning activities.
We’ve all been there! And my kids, without any structure end up either watching tv all day or fighting 😩
So currently, the quicker the play set up the better and surprisingly the kids are LOVING it
This is literally just two trays, some loose parts and a scoop and they turned it into a sorting game where they picked out all the beehives to put in the second tray. Even Mr 10 joined in!
Barely even Insta worthy but…
